I call these "self starters" because the PO did it themselves. I get a couple a year, I am going to start documenting them.

This one didn't run, but it was spectacular.

Ha those are nice. I have a 2005 VW golf TDI. Couple of the glow plugs went out in it but it wasn’t throwing any codes. This prevented the ECU from sending the power signal to the starter. Being no codes thrown I had no idea where to start to fix it but it had to fixed “today.” Wired a horn button under the hood directly to the starter solenoid. Worked like a charm.
