Another local park closed

I'm confused. The intrawebz make it appear this is a state park type of thing and there is no mention of a closure.

Then there is a facebook page for an offroad club that shres the name and there I see they are closing.

How do you close a club that is a state park?

Yes, there is 2 places. 1 of them is a state park up towards Toxaway, an isnt closed. The 2nd place was a park off hwy 11 that was 500 acres.
I ride some with Chris Durham, an he said he thought it would be the next Tellico. He absolutly loved this place. It was a great place, with all sorts of terrain. Had tons of potential.
Well I got to ride it 4 times an have to say, very sad to see it closed.

Never heard of it. Shame it shut down though. Anyone who reads this needs to get on board with TreadLightly.com, help out at their local spots and learn how to respect the trails and encourage all their friends to do so as well. Getting the responsible people together to overcome the bad apples out there is the only way!

If I ever hit the lottery I'm going to buy as much land as possible and wheel the crap out of it!

If the reason it closed were financial. that would make sense. trying to promote a park by word of mouth and a sign out front doesn't make much sense. Everyone on this site should have known about this place. I'm pissed you guys who knew didn't shrae the wealth with the rest of us. ;)

this was talked about over and over for a long time, they even had a upcoming events thread when they opened the park

Why did they close?

They werent very far at all from The Cliffs. If you dont know what the Cliffs is, It is a very high end Housing development. They were getting mud on the road, an all that money didnt like that. So they got the SCDMV involved, an said it was a road hazzard an they would fine them if it happend again. An then the neighbors got involved with the county, an didnt like the noise. So they kept fighting to keep it open an finaly gave up. Dont think money was the problem, they had put 90K in the property, grading, building the little house where you paid an sold food. It was well on its way to a great place, they just got tired of all the BS so they shut it down an said it wasnt worth the hassle.

I doubt many here remember, but in the 70s, Richard Petty [The King!] built a small Dirt Race track, nearly across from the Charlotte Airport. Spent a few million, & had all the City permits. The Airport IS, noise y! The only neighbors, were low-rent apartments, across the street. AFTER it was built, the renters complained; dust, noise, late hours! Petty, paved the Track, required mufflers, & curtailed operating hours. So after probably spending another million, the City of Charlotte, shut them down! Just as the Metrolina Speedway, has suffered the same fate, 3 times over! I can't believe Richard Petty, didn't sue the City! Why the HELL do Officials, OK you to build something, only to turn around & STAB you in the back?:flipoff:
