Did the mustang injector swap on my XJ this weekend and found a "part" under the hood that wasn't connected to anything (yes, this was before I started messing around under the hood).
The cable was attached to the rear (near the firewall) fuel rail bolt. One end has a plug with three prongs and the other end of the cable has an enclosed metal piece.

, I would say that was a bad one that never got remove when replaced, its common for them to go out.
