just got this wj today. I knew the 4.0's have an issue with the oil pressure sensor.
I cranked it up before swapping the sensor. it didn't read nothining, even revved up.

swapped the sensor and it reads 5psi at idle and 40 revved up.
is there something else I'm missing.

You most likely have either a worn oil pump or worn cam bearing and/or main bearing wear. The WJ as well as later model 4.0s were notorious for accelerated cam bearing wear.
The first step is to install a manual oil pressure gauge and see if the pressures are in fact that low at idle. The hot idle oil pressure spec is approx 7-8 psi. While it may be *in spec*, it does indicate engine wear.
