Another XJ...

Has anyone fit 33s in 3.5” lift?

Found a set of TJ Rubicon wheels with 33s I might pick up

33 x 12.50 or 33 x 10.50? The 12's will rub depending on width of rim and BS. The 10's go well with trimming and 3" lifts IMHO. Give them a try if you can before you buy?

Ill probably run 10's. I've got 10's now with 3.75" BS. Not really a fan, a little to much IMO.

As for wheels im debating on the TJ take offs and JK take offs. 17"s might not offer enough sidewall, any input there? TJ's are like mining for gold though.

Really don't have anything to test fit. My buddy has a wrangler with 35's o_O

JK's will require an adapter. TJ's are all expensive.

For my fronts I took two markers and taped them with a short piece of dowel rod in between them think I—I. I traced the existing fender opening just bigger/higher then cut with a Air nibbler. For the rear I traced the opening using the same method. Used tape to create the new “opening” and cut small vertical cuts up to the line made by the tape. I then folded over the tabs made by the cuts. I spaced my cuts about 1.5 inches apart to make it fold easier/cleaner. If anything google it. There are tons of threads out there unless someone else has pics here on NC4x4.

When I did mine the best advice I found is mark what you want to cut very carefully then cut exactly what you mark. Also make alot of small cuts in the rounded part. I cut up to the fender line that is exposed after the flare is removed. Be prepared for alot of tapping with a rubber mallet to get them to fold in. First picture is of it marked the last two are final result front and rear.

Finally back from the wedding / honeymoon endeavors and in some sort of groove.

Still have to cut and fold the fenders. Going to work at 530 and getting home at 630 leaves no daylight. I got the wheels/tires off and sold and picking up the 33s Sunday.

Slowly getting the little stuff done, until then...

Looks good!

Been fighting a cold all week and finally broke out of quarantine. My pops picked up the wheels and tires for me early this week since I was down. I finally got to mount them up. Still have to cut and fold but man, I dig the look.

Not a whole lot has been done since I’ve been traveling for work. Time off is spent with the little one and wife.

Got the front fenders cut, still need to roll the rear. Bought some door trim to put over the front sharp edges. Started it this morning and let it warm up, turned it off to get my shoes out of the truck, went to start it back up and nothing. Looked under the hood and found Raw wires on the power wire to the battery. Went and got new terminals and when removing the positive post came off with it. So I went back to get a new battery.

Got that taken care of and was just looking everything over, took the radiator cap off and found a nightmare. Will need a flush and a new radiator relatively soon. Also found the steering box leaking. Will likely upgrade to this once we get through the holidays.

Would like to take trip to uwharrie as I’ve never been. Anyone close by that would be interested in a day trip? Never been “legit wheeling” and obviously not super capable.

Also looking for a rear bumper tire carrier if anyone has / knows of one for sale.

Good looking xj!! Where's that milk from?? Hopefully that's a diff and not a engine...

Made a little progress before it got to dark. Just have to get the valve cover and underneath off. Hoping to have it off tomorrow so I can get the head sent to the machine shop.

Thank you!

The engine

After cleaning the cooling system out it went south real quick. I’m not sure what the crap in there was but I would assume some sort of stop leak? Well, I cleaned that out too so I won the surprise!

Ohh dang rust build up and god knows whatever someone poured in it... I use to flush my zj with white vinegar believe it or not mixed about 30% vinegar 70% water when I bought mine it had that crap In it heater core was clogged wth it too!

Yeah I really don’t want to replace the heater core. I’m hoping cleaning will be fine. Never heard of using vinegar. At the shop we usually use cascade.

Got the head off and no real signs of damage outside of nasty clogged water jackets.
