Ant Hill Art...... Cool

Yes drink cans can be melted down to be used for this. I have seen vids of someone doing just that, making blocks of aluminum for the purpose of milling it into a part or piece for what ever use.

If you happen to drive by my home next spring and see a bunch of holes, don't ask why

neat, cool, interesting yada yada yada..................where were the ants??? not even any residual little rascals!!! seems like a set-up

what temp does aluminum melt at? And could empty drink cans be melted down for this?

its gonna take a loooooot of cans, at least to make that much AL.
Better get crackin' w/ the drinkin'.

That is cool, and a good way to get rid of those dang fire ants.

Just be sure to wear your safety glasses.

I've got a buddy that lost an eye to molten aluminum.

I thought the video was going to be this one:

I've done Bronze sculptures before. It's basically the same process. Make a sculpture out of wax, pour a plaster cast around it. Let it dry and then cook the wax out of it. then set the cast down in a pile of sand and put on your protective leather outfit and pour molten bronze in the cast. Let it cool off and start chipping away. Very cool process and a lot of fun.

A year or two ago our daughter had an ant farm. It was cool watching them create all the tunnels, and how they bury their dead all in the same tomb.
