anti rust

whacha think about my anti rust methods? it takes a while to get enough money for the internals so Ive gotta protect my next truck investment.

Rust is an issue, but if you do it right no problem. Did you wipe oil on all the internals? Red line even better for long periods(sticks better) At the shop we have bags especially for engines and some for heads.

What did you cover the parts in before you wrapped 'em?
 
i didnt even notice people had replied to this...

I sprayed the block and piston/connecting rods with wd-40 if i remember correctly. is there a better option?

To answer, yes.
WD-40 evaporates.
When we prep blocks, head surfaces (any machined peice that will be sitting around a while) We use a couple of things. 1. PB blaster or 2. Mixure of kerosene, marvel mystery, and tranny fluid.
Sticks to it and keeps it from rusting. And, it's not a pita to clean off when you are ready to assemble.
