Looking for some recommendations

We have a multi story multi building pa/music system. Trying to locate the most simple setup for music streaming (as background music).

It appears a NAS drive hooked to a HiFI network media player would be best. The media player would constantly play everything in the designated NAS folder. And any PC on the network could simply add music files to the NAS folder whenever they wanted. It could also be used as a network backup point for PCs and also network file sharing (not likely, but an option)

Not *needing* multiple points of playback, just a single that plugs into the sound system.

Alternatively looks like something simple could be accomplished with a SSD drive, miniPC and PlexTV media server (or some other DLNA). The added benefit here that anyone on the network could use it for video. For example, I love military tac training vids and will happily watch these in the background while doing a full days worth of monotonous labor in front of the computer. (MiniPC may be under cutting if youre talking potentially 5 different devices attempting playback).

Alternatively, maybe skipping the HiFi network player, if a NAS had software install functionality a DLNA could be used directly on the NAS, and the NAS had audio output, this works too and eliminates the network player and miniPC need. This sounds more optimal as audio control could be performed from any network PC, whereas these HiFi network media players seem to primarily function off cellphone apps or manual operation. (we dont do wifi or bluetooth here)

Anywho. If any of yous are wizards of audio/tech stuff. Would appreciate your input.

Master Amp has XLR and RCA input options.

It appears having talked with plex, that picking a Plex supported NAS (synology looks the best), will eliminate the need for Hifi and for mini PC.

The end goals being

>simple addition of music files to shared media storage by all network access points (PCs)
>live play of all files in the shared folder, without rebooting when new are added
>access to media player via LAN browser, to skip songs, pause, etc.

How are you getting sound out of the Synology? It will run a Plex server or act as file server, if your amp is capable of pulling from a DLNA source or can decode it's own mp3s.

My Synology doesn't have an audio out - analog or digital.

I don't know the specifics of how the control/etc. actually works (I'm not familiar at all), but I've seen a whole slew of WiFi and Ethernet DACs out there in a very broad range of price points.

Some of the QNAP models do, the ones I have looked up on the Plex compatibility list. Have not had time to look up many Synology ones yet.
