I haven't been in 20 years, but taking my dad out in the morning.

Apparently you can start shooting at like 6:30am, do they actually fly that early?

Growing up we didn't see them until like noon.

In the past I've seen more in the mornings and late afternoon. Middle of the day dies off some. I lost my awesome place to go a few years ago and haven't been since. It's a good time though.

It's fine sport is probably go in the morning then after you get your limit go eat lunch dress your birds, then about 530 or 6 repeat.

I haven't been able to get down east for dove opener in a couple years
They seem to split the mountains, numbers are way Lower between Marion and Newport,tn

I'm going to leave around 6:30am for a 50 min drive. Then see how it goes!

Apparently you can, because there's been a constant chorus around here since 6:30. At first I figured it was the usual redneck nightshooters but they kept going long after the ammo money would have dried up.

I've fired a few times. Got here around 7:30 AM, but I may not have picked a great spot. Sounds like a war zone about 700 yards for me

I've knocked a few down, about 50 or so hunters here but my dad and I seemed to have found our own cut corn field.

This is the 5th deer to walk up on me.

I went first thing this morning an knocked down a few. I had to run back to the house to give the wife a break from the baby so I can buy more time for the afternoon

My brother and his in-laws went this morning...think he said they cleaned 107 birds.

This morning was surreal, about dead calm w thick fog and a gloomy/dark sky until about 10/1030. It seemed it was lifting only to darken again and again, shots rang out getting closer/louder and a bird would just materialize already well within range. I imagine the fog kept any birds from sticking together, it was always one bird till it finally brightened up. I've hunted doves for 40+ yrs but never in a fog like this. They usually burn off as soon as the sun comes up. It was so foggy the shots sounded muffled at distance and even at pelting ranges. The sky opened up @ 12 and the breeze picked up and it was like most every hunt on opening day. I also got a douchebag pic. 2 kids who were vaping/sharing the pipe, blowing smoke like an indian smoke signal when the sun came out. I swear the smoke about hid them from view before it drifted away from one toke.

They left the field at about 1 mph, on a pretty smooth path and I assume he was going to stuff a tire If he went any faster as he stopped a few times @ some small bumps/holes in the sandy path. Parked on flat ground it looked like about 2" to the fender.
