Just noticed half my transponders r at 0. Checked what wiring I could. Wonder if my lnb is going out. Any ideas? Losing half my channels

And this problem goes in and out. Right now all r working. Any one have any idea?

Have any switches in the system? Std or hd? Any trees in the area it's pointed?

And yes. Feel screwed. Called dtv 3 times. All they recommend is a charge to come out

How many TVs do you have hooked up? And your not the only one that's been screwd by dtv

3. Has been working fine for yrs. Just started this n the the past couple mnths

I would consider other providers. Cable is not available. Would love to find a high speed internet provider along with a new tv provider

Is it the old style LNB where all the runs go all the way back to the LNB?

Could be the LNB, could be corrosion in the lines (although that would be one or two, not all simultaneously).

Easiest solution would be to find somebody close-by with the same style LNB and swap them out, see if it makes a difference. Probably re-terminate the coax while you're there, too.

If you got 3 TVs hooked up there's a switch in the system... Follow the line from the dish and you should find it... That's probably gonna be the problem... Then check the lnb

The old style didn't have a switch.

I have a splitter n the basement. But there isn't a ac cord to it. 2 wires come from the lnb to the splitter. Then 3 come out. What do I look for on the lnb?
It wouldn't be too bad if I wasn't stuck on the couch for 2 weeks. And the internet speed here is terrible. Haven't any luck finding a better provider yet

Get off your lazy ass and do something you'll feel better. :flipoff2: That's what Grand paw use to say to me.

Hope your feeling better.

That's the switch... Should probably say 3x4 switch. If not if it says splitter that's the problem if dtv is ran thru a cable splitter it will do this problem right away or can possibly do it later on.... I have some switches and possibly a lnb

thanks, just checked it. zinwell multi switch. 3x4. its warm to the touch. dtv said that was normal. 18 transponders at 0 . 13 at 95+ 1at80
kenneth,:flipoff2:
been off the couch more today. but paying for it now. no way in hell trying a ladder

Have you looked at the screen where it has the two green bars talking about signal strength ? What's those numbers saying? The only thing I can think of would be replacing switch or lnb if the dish hasn't moved

i figure its possible the dish couldve moved. but nothing has hit it. cant find the screen with 2 bars.i can get each transponder to come up

Call and add the protection plan at like 4.99 a month, then have them come out. Then cancel it next month if you have to, I keep the protection plan though for storms and everything, it has saved me money.

sounds like corrosion in one of your connectors probably at the LNB or ground block. try starting at the LNB and working your way back from there. if anything looks crusty replace the connector. You can get a kit at Home Depot or Lowes but need to use the pressed on kind not the screw on.

When you redo the connectors make sure none of the silver ground wire (woven shield) is touching the copper core

Its usually not the LNB but could be if so track down an independent installer and they will usually give you one...

Corrosion is possible but I'd bet it's the switch... I went through the same problem bout a month ago... It's just a good thing I had some left over

The old style didn't have a switch.
the old style didnt support 3tvs off one dish
so while it didnt have a swm switch it absolutely had a diplexer switch in the system somewhere.

is problem identical at every TV.

If you werent so far away Id offer to help

no luck yet. a friend was supposed to come help out with a ladder yest. but was a no show. maybe today. i order a dvr from dtv and they said the issue would be fixed while the tech was here. but have to sign a 24 mnth contract. any thoughts on a better provider?
