Been looking for a 2005 to 2006 Toyota Tundra crew cab 4x4 for a few months now. Have found a few that i like but they are always a little far away to get to quickly. End up getting sold

I have started also throwing in the 2004 to 2008 Ford F150's. Also crew cab and 4 wheel drive. What are things I need to look for or at? Trying to find a lower mileage 1 as well. I know if the spark plug issue. But that was supposedly fixed in earlier years. Have found a few with 100,000 miles or less. Are they decent trucks? I like the body style. Thanks in advance. Jesse.

If you can afford it, I'd get a 2011 or newer with the 5.0. I'm a Chevy guy and even I like them. My uncle has a 2011 with 200k on it. It's gotten oil changes, spark plugs once, and some brake pads/rotors.

I have an 07 4wd Crew Cab XLT. Bought it with around 60,000 on the clock. No real issues other than the spark plugs so far.
It has about 130,000 miles.
Normal maintenance. Brakes, oil changes, air filters, ....
I did replace all of the coil packs to fix a sputter, but it was just a bandaid for needing to replace the plugs. The 3rd brake light leaked inside the cab so I siliconed it to seal it. The rear pinion seal was replaced. My 12v charging port up front quit working. It’s got a few dash lights that need replacing but other than a few ankle biters it’s been a great truck. About to throw a leveling kit and some exhaust on it and drive it till it breaks which I hope is another 100,000. Appearance wise, it’s held up nice minus the ford emblems front and back fading out. I’d definitely buy another. The only pic I have is when it snowed several years ago.

The 3v is not an awful motor. The plugs can be worrisome but I have done several sets and never broke any. Kroil oil and a little patience after getting it good and hot seems to work well just don’t get in a hurry. The cam phasers will fail eventually but you can get eliminators or you can just replace them. At some point the cats will clog up and it will really run like shit. If you’re looking for a engine that makes little power and gets shitty fuel mileage then the 3v 5.4 is the motor for you.

@Croatan_Kid said it best. Get a 5.0 f150 and pick up a spare upper radiator hose and that plastic Y. A lot better engine.

Yea. A couple guys I work with have the 5.0's. They like them. Just buying a second vehicle and don't want to take a loan out. Have even looked at the chevy 1500's. Really want a first generation Tundra but have been entertaining the thought of the other brand trucks. Might scrap the 5.4 idea. Hahahaha. Just trying to find a lower mileage truck. Thanks for all the input. Jesse.

I am on my 2nd F250 with 5.4. Plugs and coils is all the motors needed, 230k on 1st, 140k on current truck (plugs at 105k, one coil pack gone bad).

1st truck towed great, current is mediocre. 4.11 vs. 3.73 gears. 5.4 really needs the 4.11 if you haul/tow.
