I'm looking for a glass installer in the Graham-Durham area to put new glass in my 72 CJ 5. I have the frame off of the jeep and could bring all components to a shop somewhere. I tried for 2 hours yesterday to get the glass installed myself, but after getting my a** handed to me I decided I would seek professional assistance. Let me knwo if anyone on here can help, or if you know of a good shop that would be willing to help.

I had a fella from glass company install windshield in my 77CJ5 last week. He's no where near you but heres what we did.He took the gasket and put it on glass.
2)He took what looked like a 1/8" rope and fed it into the gasket starting at bottom middle and going all the way aroung window until back where he started.
3)spray WD40 on gasket all the way around.
4)Have someone help you position window against frame(Mounted).A medium push will pop it in.NOTE:make sure you leave tail end of rope hanging inside cab with enough to grab hold.
5)Once window is in have someone put pressure on outside of glass with full palm while you pull string. The string will open the gasket enough to lock it in the channel. The person applying pressure needs to stay a few inches ahead of the string while your pulling.
The glass installer had the rope going through a plastic piece that looked like the handle on a kids jump rope.I'd say sharpie pen cap with a hole cout in the top with string through it would work.the plastic piece was just to help open the gasket as the string was fed into the gasket channel.Hope this helps.

The frame/glass/seal setup is different on pre 76 jeeps. My seal is 2 pieces. One large seal for the frame to hold the glass and a locking seal to be installed once glass is in seal on frame. Thanks for the advice though.
