My wife has a 2003 G35. It started running rough and engine light came on. I had it read at Autozone and code was that the MAF Sensor is bad. Those things are $400+ so I pulled and cleaned it and replaced the air filter. Unhooked battery for a while then put it all back together and it runs the same.
It starts and idles but when you mash the accelerator it coughs and sputters. It only goes up in rpms in idle. There is a lot of exhaust smell and it's pretty hot right at the tailpipe. I'm wondering if the cat could be clogged?
I hate to buy a $400 sensor and that not be it. I've looked at the Upullit yards and they don't have it. Any input?
Thanks,
RQ

One of the cats are def clogged I had same thing happen to my S10
Here's what you can do o make sure take out a o2 sensor before any cats and see if it runs any better with open exhaust....I'm almost positive it needs a cat thou!

disconnecting the battery isn't going to do anything. if it has an electric throttle body the throttle body must be relearned before it will run properly. the maf sensor may be the problem but it has most likely changed the values in the throttle body.
