is there anybody on here thats a linemen? i have been looking for a while to try and get on as a apprentice or helper and work my way up but havent had much luck....just seein if somebody on here was one or had a connection and could help me out or atleast give some advise on how to get started.

i was a defensive lineman in high school. dont think that helps you though.

I worked for PIKE as a HV lineman for a few years...things have changed...I made $22/ hour on day and $16 the next. Also the beneifts went in the crapper.

If you are serious that its what you want to do PM me, Ill try to offer some alternatives and hook you up if you insist.

Its gone that way everywhere man. By the end of my first summer in electrical I was making 14/hr and after 3 years I was at $20/hr @ 60hs week min. Now it seems like green helpers are at under 11 and it takes a few years to get a glimpse at more. I'd really suggest traditional electrical as opposed to working as a linemen. Some of the companies in the rdu area

Adams
LL
Watson
code
berg
gaylord (old port city pretty much)
dw evans
etc

I'd suggest commercial or industrial. No one gives a crap about residential to be honest.

Work hard, keep your mouth shut, and learn as much as you can and you will do fine. If you need any tools to start out hit me up. I've got about 5 of anything you could need and could prob part with some of it pretty cheap or atleast give you a really good list to start with. Whatever you do don't show up on a job without the right tools!

i climb poles to hook up people's cable and look down the shirts of those running the wrightsville beach loop all at the same time!

I was an offensive lineman in high school so if Defensive line isn't helping, maybe offensive line will.....

I had a tight end depending on the formations, so I ended up doing alot of lineman driver:

:flipoff2: :gay::gay: :lol:

sorry, im wasting bandwidth at rickeys expense.

okay okay...joking aside.

do you have an schooling or experience? or is this one of those follow your intrest kinda things?

just wondering why this job specifically, not trying to be a smart ass. Seems like a decent paying job...if you can stay in it long enough.

well to be honest with you i work right now in a call center type of setting and dont make bad money but i hate my job and am miserable...i have a 2 year degree from wake tech, am very mechanically inclined, and learn very fast, this just seems like something i would really enjoy, from what i hear you start out around $11-12/hr within a couple of years are up to about $25 an hour....i dont really know but i do know what money does not equal happiness since i have learned that from my current job

long pm sent....and a possible alternate.
