Just curious if anyone knows of any off road style races in the next month or so before the ECORS race, preferrably within a days drive of NC.

Also Dave(I'm sure you will be reading this post) when is the next race in PA or wherever it was that you raced at? Thanks:beer:

Dude you missed "the big one" at Line Mountain PA - it was last weekend. 7.8 miles, several laps. See the Erik Miller Congrats post in this section. I couldn't go due to baby.

The next fast-style race at Rausch is... this Saturday. So you better start packin'.
Last one of that season/series is Oct 16th. I can't race but may try and go, lots of MD Creepers in it.

It's on the above webpage

From what I've heard, they're doing in on the "new property"and it's mostly green trails - somebody mentioned after last time that it wasn't terribly technical. I'll find out more after this weekend's race.
You may run into issues w/ their tech rules though, they are fairly stringent. I know I wouldn't qualify, things like "seats must be mounted to rollcage, not body" etc.
There is a sub-forum on the Ruasch Creek ORV forum

Yeah doesnt look like I can meet all those tech specs, what about the race you were in, I assume that was a different organization? Thanks

Google for lots of pics and videos.

They have 3 open-entry races per year... 3.5, Coal Bucket, and 7 miler. Last of the year was last weekend.
Big variety of vehcile, everything from 2wd sand-rail style buggies to fullsize trucks to rock-crawlers. it's not terribly technical, but bumpy as hell and those guys drive FAST, by the end the trail is littered w/ vehicles. You'll want some good shocks... learned that the hard way.
Something like 150+ vehicles run. Cheap too, something like $40 to camp and drive.

Tech is not too difficult but a little more stringent than ECORS. Biggest difference is must have a rollcage (your old exo would pass), harnesses, no glass except winshshiled, horn, rearview mirror, solid doors or full crossbar, and window nets. PDF on their site w/ rules.

Here's a POV from Doug Bligelow's buggy from last weekend

look closely at 1:30 lol

Are you trying to say I dont drive fast?:driver:

I'm saying w/ so many people on the course, many of which have been running the same course area for decades, they are crawling up each others' asses... so you can't really slow down for the bumpy sections, just hold on and pray your suspension holds together. Mine didn't.

that looks fun! but lots of work to compliant with the tech.

Really?
Aside from the cage, I found it pretty easy.
IMO it's all stuff everybody should really have anyway.
They don't even require fire suits.

I've "heard" you can roll the windows down in your doors, then cover the seams so you can't tell there "may" still be glass in there.

And I thought a deer on the race course @ Harlan was kind of funny, can't imagine a "full moon"....

Thats better than horses on the trail during the first 4x4 cross!!

Brad et al,

it turns out I was "slightly" incorrect.

Aparently, Line Mountain 4Wheelers have 1 more race this year - at Rausch Creek!
It's in just 2 weeks, Oct 30.
There's not a lot of info available right now, but from what I can gather, this is a new thing they are trying- the LM4W Assoc is having their own race at the "new" NE property at RC.
Some details here:
http://lm4w.org/news/?page_id=27

The long and short of it is - even though it's at RC, the show is being run by LM4W - including tech rules etc. Which are pretty lax - very similar to ECORS.

I'm going to try and go, it's only a 2.5 hr drive from here...

The RCROCS Race was on this same property today. LOTS of fast space, basically all "greens", today the sprinkled in some hard rocky technical stuff to make teh buggies happy, but that would allbe omited for this.
