Hey I'm new here but I came upon this site a few days ago and I can't get off it now. Well I have a 08 jeep wrangler sahara that I'm making payments on and I don't really want to F-it up until I actually own. So for the past two weeks I've been looking for a truck that I can go off roading in and make a nice build. I went a saw a few trucks already but just not what I'm looking for. Well today I saw a post on CL for a 69 F100. The body is in good shape a few different colors but the least of my worries lol. It has a 390 Big Block and a c6 transmission in it. It was his daily driver until he replaced the starter with a APS racing starter in it and he thinks something shorted out. Pretty much what I'm asking is do you think a 69' f100 with a short in the wiring which shouldn't be to hard to fix with $500? If I can get anymore info on this it would be greatly appreciated :)

I don't know if I'd wheel something that is that much of a classic. It's a full size so it's gonna get bashed in. I'm also figuring it doesn't have power steering so wheeling without that will really bring the suck. Look for an older Toyota pickup or Jeep that you can beat on without beating the crap out of yourself in the process. Or just wheel your current Jeep and take it easy on it. You'll be surprised all the places it'll go without trashing it.

Need any parts, service or advice, this one fits in my expertice. I have parted and held on to many. Please PM for any needs...

It's worth $500 in scrap metal...

If it's drivable, it's worth at least a grand. IMO

Closest thing to an expert on these trucks you'll ever meet.....

Some of those had a single speed transfercase, no low range. That and no power steering MIGHT be a deal breaker, but both could be fixed in the future too. The 390 can be a beast of an engine, and the c6 is tough too so those are pluses.

Wheeling a fullsize can make even the easiest trails more fun though.

The wiring is probably something really simple too, cause the whole trucks wiring diagram will fit on two pages, lol.

Thanks for the info guys...I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow. I understand it's alittle older but for some reason I want a older truck for off roading. I've always liked the looks and I think they can hold up a little better compared to my jeep everything is plastic and computers in this thing lol...I already had it in the shop once because water shorted out the ETC that was a blast. Cut my engine out and right into a tree. Wasn't to much damage but I got lucky...I'll let you guys know more after I take a look at it tomorrow. Thanks!

I see you're at Ft. Bragg. If you decide to get it you can shoot me a pm on here and I can help you with it some if my time permits. I'm a mechanic in Fayetteville.

Hope you are ready to spend a fortune in gas. The gas needle is gonna go down so fast that you're gonna think you have a hole in the tank!! :driver:

Depends on the set-up....you'll never get 30 out of them w/o a diesel, but you can get 15-18 easily.

Ok I don't think I'm going to pick this truck up the guy just fell of the face of the earth...on to the next. Thanks for the info guys. I'm looking at a 1972 Jeep J2000 360 V8 body is in ok shape. It starts up with no problems at all. 4 wheel drive works. He wanted 1500 for it and we've been going back and forth for the past few days and I got him down to 800...I'll post it on a new post in a little bit!
