That's right, I'm dropping a Binder engine into my 85 Grand Wagoneer. I have been a long-time, die-hard fan of IH engines, particularly the 345. I'm taking an IH TF727 to the transmission shop with an AMC TF727 to have them put the AMC output shaft into the IH tranny, assuming that the t-case adapter from the AMC tranny will bolt up to the IH tranny. I'm hoping to mate the IH tranny up with the NP229 t-case already in the Wagonner.
I already know that we're going to be looking at some fab work on the exhaust and motor mounts and that there may be more desirable options for a t-case, but does anyone know of any other issues I might encounter? I don't think that adapting the power steering and alternator are going to be a problem. My biggest concern so far is, assuming the tranny and the t-case will mate up, how the mounts on the IH tranny will correspond with those of the AMC tranny and subsequently how that will effect the position of the t-case (in other words I'm concerned I may have to modify the transmission mount in order to keep the t-case in the same position and to avoid having to modify the drive shafts).
Anyway, I'm just looking for any helpful thoughts or suggestions. I've got the front clip ready to come off of the Waggy and I'm getting serious about this hair-brained idea.
