Any transmission mechanics on here? I'd like to know if I can swap out a solenoid or something to make my 97 model 4L60E lock up the torque converter when it is attached to a 93 model engine with the 93 model computer.

Yes you can

First you have to make the lockup solenoid non-pwm(pulse width modulated). Then once its a regular on-off solenoid you can install a simple switch on the shifter or whatever to trigger it.

To make it non-pwm you need to buy the transgo 4l60e shift kit and install just the iso conv valve into the valve body.

The valve body needs to be removed to do so. So you need an inch pound torque wrench and some patience. 6 checkballs will fall out when you remove the valve body(just thought i'd warn you) and if they aren't put back in it won't work!

Installing that one valve also gets rid of the dreaded p1870 code if caught early enough.

Oh geez, I've pulled the valve body out once before and vowed to never do that again after the balls fell out!! I may be looking for quotes from somebody to do that work, or to trade for a 93 4L60E.
