last year, I switched to USAA for my banking and insurance needs. so far they have done an exceptional job and I've been very pleased with them compared to my past experiences with banks that I've used. I have full coverage on my Jetta and only liability on my Cummins. I also pay $.33 (yes, thirty-three cents) a month for roadside assistance for either vehicle. this afternoon, I had to use the roadside assistance for the Dodge. the lift pump and injection pump have died, which of course left me on the side of the road. I called USAA to set up the towing and the rep was very friendly and helpful (or so I thought). he told me that I'd be covered for up to $50. the tow truck guy (who turned out to be very courteous and friendly) got there and asked me how I'd be paying, so I immediately asked why my insurance wasn't covering it. he explained to me that since my truck is a dually, there's an additional $10 fee just to hook up to it. their normal service fee would be $45, which takes the cost to $55 (duh). apparently the rep from USAA failed to tell them that they were hauling a dually so I had to pay the entire $55 out of my pocket to tow the truck from where it was sitting to my house (1.5 miles a way). should I get reimbursed for this? main thing I wanted to say here was if you have roadside assistance and a heavy duty truck, PLEASE make sure your insurance company knows it's a heavy duty truck so you don't have any surprises! sorry for the rant. haha.
