Seriously I bet over the last year I spent about $1000 between control arms, ,springs, trac bar, steering upgrade. Over all quality was average. Well supposidly they have good customer service....wrong!

Their heavy duty steering kit for my YJ had worn out the tie rod ends in about 4 months. So I called them and ask what kind of TRE's that take, well they said Moog and gave methe parts #'s. I didnt even bitch about the ends wearing out. So I order up so Moog Parts and go to put them on last night. Long story short, the TRE's that came out were not Moogs, looked like a cheap casting, less material that the moogs. Old cheeapie TREs came out pretty good, but the Moogs would only screw in about 7 turns in, where as the other ones would go in all the way(25 or so turns). Thread pitch looks the same, Moogs just looks like a frog hair bigger in diameter.

Any way end up getting TRES stuck in the stering, and I mean stuck, obvioulsy something is wrong here. So I call Rustys to see if they will just send me a new steering unit at somewhat of a discounted price(since I have been a good customer) And when I say discounted I mean like 25% off or something at least. Well Initial guy says no problem, let me give you the tech guy and he will help you out, he will fix you up. Well the tech guy comes on and proceeds to tell me that they have never had any problems with there steering setups EVER!! And basically implied that I was installing them wrong. I'm no master tech here, but I have replace probably 50-60 TRE's in my time without a hitch until now. He also claims that the moog and the other brands they use have the exact same diameter and thread pitch, B.S.!! I'm guessing the Moogs are just a little bigger as they are used on stock type steering setups that have a speader or adjustment sleeves, not solid rod.

Anyway again all I wanted was a new setup at a slightly lower cost, so my jeep isnt down for 2-3 weeks. Well the guy want have it, again claims that they never send out any parts that arent perfect. My guess is they have never used a quality Moog TRE because of the cost(almost 3 times that of the TRW's). So the guy is basically very rude and says that I will have to ship them(on my dime) the old(basically useless part) to see if they can fix it. Under no circumstances wikk he ship a dicounted part to me(even though I spent a ton of money over the past year with them). Crappy and Rude!! Best thing is I ask for the guys name at the end......Guess who.....Rusty!!

Hell im sorry to hear this, I have the Adjustible LCA that are made by rustys ( Old ones ) and they have the big threads. I wouldnt run them agian. I also have a older set, and the new ones might be better. The ones i have if you dont grease them once a weak are "loud". With all that said what would it hurt to send it back to them if you cant fix it anyways?. Sounds like it is gonna be down unless you get a new one. If you do get a new one might have to wait for it also.

Thanks
My o.2$

I thought it was pretty much generally accepted that Rusty's sucks. Maybe you should have posted this thread before spending $1,000 there

Ive had good dealings with them, but Ive never spent the kind of coin as you, Ive bought a few small things here and there. Heard about all the problems other people have had though.

Thanks for the wisdom.....Kinda of hard to know they were gonna have poor customer service without buying something jackwagon!

Call Brandon at rides, that way he has more leverage if something gets mucked up. Rusty's may think your $1000 is no big lose but if a large vendor, ie rides, has an issue they may try harder not to loose $BIGGER money.
PS still waiting on your call....:flipoff2:

oh shit calling now!!

Actually their steering setups got good reviews, I have not bought anything from them since, after hearing some mix reviews on their trac bars I have sent my business elsewhere, but thanks for the smartass comments:flipoff2:

But their customer service got a lot of bad reviews, which is what your complaining about. Hope you get it worked out

Me too, after talking to Rusty I have my doubts though!

I like their website. :D Easy to navigate. I have the older long arms on my XJ with the large threads. Suck? Of course, but then I paid $100 for them used. Haven't broken them yet, but did wear out some of the bushings. Called Rusty and he gave me the part numbers I needed. Turns out they use the stock bushings. He recommended I go to my local parts store and get some instead of ordering his. He also gave me the part numbers I needed in case I wanted to upgrade the long arms to the fine thread joints.

That's the only dealings I've had with them, but things went well I thought.

Reading that looks just like rants I've made about a lot of their other parts. There is no fawkin way he is that delusional that he really thinks his company doesn't pump out dangerously shitty suspension and steering components. Hopefully someone sues them into bankruptcy in the near future.

Psst. Brad, Rusty's sucks!
:flipoff2:

If they sponsor an ECORS event I'm gonna pay for a vehicle wrap on my jeep that says Rustys sux:beer:

I sorta doubt you were speaking to the owner of the company. Probably just some jerk who was messing with you. It's still bad they would hire someone like that. Either way I'd call them back and try someone else.

I wouldn't be so sure, Rusty is surprisingly easy to get on the phone.

He has always been pleasant to me but I wasn't talking to him about defective parts either.

It was him, I have talked to him before. Yeah hes attitude was much different than previous conversations, seems to be in alot better mood when he is taking my money:lol:

I've got their large thread LCA's on my XJ and I hate them. They were on the Jeep when I bought it but I plan to upgrade soon. Also have their 4" front coil springs and front shocks and I'm pretty happy with those.

Think I'll be trying Rough Country for my next affordable suspension upgrade.

I installed a bracket set for a 8.8 from Rustys for a project I was helping a buddy on, They looked to be cut for a smaller axle not an 8.8 (Box read 8.8), I didn't bother calling, I just ground down and made it work, But you would think for $250 in brackets they would at least sit on the axle with out a ton of grinding.
