First day off in two weeks plan on heading that way about 4am.

Well I drive a hour to work every day I don't mind the drive, it's worth the escape from reality.
 
3 hour drive to drive around and look at guardrail in the woods...

Wish I could go, actually nice to have it to yourself, just a little risky. I live 45 minutes away and don't get there enough. Place has changed so much. Rednecks and teenagers slowly ruining it. Man if I had a 3 hour drive I'd go another 2 and head to Harlan.

Down toward Wilmington , I have noticed that there has been a lot of hell raisers up there this year.
 
Checked out harlan 7 hour drive can't swing it for the day.
 
Harlan is def not a day thing. I go on Thursday and come back Sunday. Got some buddies I wheel with in the Wytheville area that go to Harlan. They say about 10 hours after fuel, food, and potty breaks.

You must have grown up and reached the age of awareness since you started going there. Same thing happened to me around 2007ish, when I went from teenager to college kid to working adult and I said the same thing about the littering off trail rednecks and teenagers dragging it down. I think the place doesn't change as quickly as our perspective.
 
Yeah your right Matt. I got real involved with volunteering for a while. Then life got in the way of even wheeling much less volunteering. Ever since we lost Kodak and couldn't seem to make the people understand that "the people" were the problem (some people), it was an eye opener.
