Anybody here build decks in the Charlotte area?

There's a really good book at Lowes, basic woodworking tools, buy some beer for your friends, have fun with it. 16" centers are your friend, it's like welding, 90% is planning and material prep, only problem is wood is measured in rough dimensions, not true! The progressive error is you worst enemy.
 
Please make sure you learn the right way and the codes so you can keep an eye on the work and that it’s done right.

As simple as decks are to build, most people screw them up and they can be an accident waiting to happen, even with a “pro” doing the work.
