Looking to buy one, but I don't really know anyone who does any kayaking. I have 100 question for someone lol

Prefer white water as I have a canoe to take care of the trips and flat water. How hard is learning to roll? Iam looking at a used set up now. Diesel 75. Just does not come with a paddle.

If you are looking to get into whitewater I highly suggest going and taking a few of the classes at the white water center. They teach rolling classes as well as basics and give private lessons. I took a few there. I was able to roll in the first roll class. Rolling in non moving water is a lot different that rolling in moving rapids! I never really got into it though, (ended up hurting my back on an unrelated deal) and kind of lost interest in it.

I went down there a few years ago when I found interest in wanting a kayak. Figured I would ask a question or two about some things. Mostly what I found out was that crowd was not like our off road crowd. I left with unanswered questions on top of not knowing anyone who paddled I figured it wasn't for me. But since I bout my canoe I have the itch to try white water again.

I paddled whitewater for a while and gave it up. If you buy a boat get a stable mid range boat with a flat bottom and volume. You buy somethi g small, dont know what you are doi g and get into a decent hole and you could easily stare death in the face.

Never paddle alone.

My best advise would be find someone patient and trustworthy who alreay paddles. Get them to teach river safety, reading a river, etc. Borrow their boat and get in a river with them. If you like it you will begin to understand differences in boats and which one would suit your needs.

Be safe... I have lost friends to the river.

Ill stay chimed into this one. I kayak fish right now, but we go down a lot of rivers and creeks and every time i see some decent white water it makes me want a white water kayak pretty bad, with that being said, i have learned the hard way that a fishing kayak does not work well as a white water haha

I have one all but bought. The guy us out of town until tues but all the same iam not so shur of iam going to buy it

I wish you had posted about a week ago. My niece and her boyfriend teach outdoor adventure sports all over the world and could have probably answered all your questions. Unfortunately they left this week and are unavailable for the foreseeable future teaching Boy Scouts sea kayaking.
