Anybody lose a winch in the road?

Maybe one of those poseur jeeps where they buy a winch, for looks, before lockers and don't know how to install it properly.

How do you not notice the noise a flying winch makes leaving the bumper? (I think I'll go check the front of my Jeep now )

So, one time, I put a new bumper on the front of my jeep. Just stuck it on with 2 bolts to check fit since it was for a YJ instead of TJ. Then set the winch on it to see how it looked and where I needed to put holes. Came back an hour or two later and decided to take the jeep up to the house to wash it off. When I hit the brakes the first time, I heard this clunk and plastic crunch, and found a Smittybilt XRC8 laying on the ground in front of my jeep

BTW, that front bumper probably still only has 2 bolts holding it on, and has been around my trails a hundred times and to Uwharrie twice.

I would guess one in a cradle. A friend had one that he used front or back.
