im planning a honeymoon trip next month, its the most expensive trip i have and will ever take. i have read some bad reviews on all the websites like expedia, travelocity, and so on. i know there are bad reviews on every possible thing on the internet, so i was wanting to see if anybody on here has any dealings with it. i'll need a flight, lodging, and car rental, so i dont want to get screwed and stranded 5000 miles from home. expedia is advertised to be alot cheaper than booking straight from the airlines/hotel. thanks

I book all of of my car rentals and some of my flights through expedia . I like to fly southwest and they arent available on Expedia . Southwest will be a little more than what you can get a flight on expedia for , but they are usually on time and dont lose my luggage . They also dont charge for luggage unless you go over two bags per person .

As to rooms I check the prices there and on hotels.com then call the hotel and book the room direct . I dont want to be locked into a room or property that I dont like and most hotels will come close to matching the internet rates .

Where are you going ? I have traveled a good bit if you have any other questions .

somewhere on oahu, probably honolulu. I've used hotels.com once with no problems, but I don't really wanna take a chance on this one. I'll call some hotels and see if they'll directly match expedias rates. Thanks.

also, what hidden fees are associated with flying? This will be my first time

I use hotels.com for reviews and kayak.com or dealing direct for actual purchase. I usually only do hotels or flights. I've never tried to book them all at the same place, at the same time.

I work in a hotel and I know you dont want to use a 3rd party like them when booking a place to stay. They lock you into the resv. making cancelling or adjusting near impossible. They claim to have cheaper rates, but book through the hotel and they will most likely match their rate so the hotel doesnt have to payout to them.. Ad for booking them through flights, Im not sure.. All I know is if you ever need to speak with a live operator, then good luck! ..I hate dealing with em.. And all their cust. support is based out of India...

just the plane tickets alone cost more than the whole package through expedia. so i guess i wont be booking it all separate

I use them when I travel for work. They put together pretty good flight-rental-hotel packages. The only down side I have seen, is you tend to have more layovers. Basicly I think they get you from point a to b whith which ever flights are most readily available that has empty seats.

We went to Oahu on our honeymoon and I used Expedia and never had the first problem. I got the flight, car, and hotel. It was the first time I ever did something like that and I was nervous also about the reservations. Just book It and don't sweat it. These companies make a living catering to people.

BTW if you would like some advice and a little insite on Oahu just let me know.

One thing they failed to tell me about was the $15 a day valet parking at the hotel. and that was seven years ago.

kayak.com is a better choice. Otherwise, find the ticket you want on expedia, then buy it for the same price straight from the airline. I've been screwed by expedia twice on changing a flight...never again. The airlines themselves always help out and are just as cheap. Priceline is a great one for booking cheap hotels or car rentals if you don't like to bargain in person.

i think im gonnna just go with expedia. their package price is $50 less per person than their plane ticket alone price. so even if hotels and airlines matched expedia's separate prices, i doubt they would match their package price. i dont know how they offer the packages so cheap. as far as flight changes, im not worried about that.

lockedup5, yes id appreciate any info on oahu you or anyone has to give me. we are gonna hit up pearl harbor, diamond head and snorkel at hanauma bay. we are very laid back, not really clubber/nightlife people. any other sights we should check out?
