are you willing to come to my house and kill some carp?
i need to get some of the carp out of my pond. i have a 1 acre pond that has too many carp. they are grass carp and i don't want to remove all of them, just a bunch. in 1 trip around the pond (halfway really, i wasn't getting off the 4 wheeler), i counted 14, and the majority were about as long as my arm.(i'm 6'2)
i live in the wake forest/new light area, someone come kill the bastards.

hmm grass carp should be sterile when placed in.
and shouldnt hurt any other fish.

sorry no help here.

any objections to using dynamite?

wish i was closer id be all over some of that.....
hit up midwayj he might come take care of it!????

Do you like to fish? Me and a few buddies used to bait carp by drilling a bunch of 3/4" holes in a 5 gallon bucket, filling it with bread and putting a lid on it. tie it off to something and let it float out in the water with a rope tied to it so you can get it back. Pick your favorite baitcaster, tie on a good sized inline worm hook with no weights then pack a 1" bread ball on the hook. Within an hour or so you'll have carp sucking on the holes in the bucket. Throw the bait in right at the bucket and prepare for a pretty fun fight. If you've got kids they'll love it! Hell I still love it. It'd be a fun way to get them out of the pond for sure.

Im coming down in a few weeks to Castalia to do some turkey hunting at my farm. if you'd be willing to let me and a buddy come by one day, Id take a swing at a couple of them.

i have tried to catch them, evidently they are smarter than me. as soon as they see me they all go hide. if i could figure out how to keep grass on my hook, i would be set.
when i cut the grass they are everywhere eating, but the second they see me on foot, they hide.
i have not tried the "bucket trick", but i have thought about throwing a can of dog food on the edge and getting some friends drunk and seeing who can catch them bare handed.

If you use the bucket and put it far enough from the bank that they feel safe around it I think they'll stay put. We used to have a ton of trouble actually getting them to take bait. Once we figured out they liked bread we had to figure out how to actually get a hook to set in their bubba gump lips. A deep throat inline worm hook seems to work great. Just gotta let them chew on it for a good 5 seconds before you set the hook.

cast net for minnows? chum them up real good with dogfood in the dark then let'em have it.

Get ya some bread dont ball it up and put on #4 hook throw it on top of the water and get ready... itll float and they will come up and hit it 90% of the time ive seen carp be hard to catch they are smarter than ya think i think..? ha Good luck if nothing else throw a line out over night with bread in panty hose and itll be on the line in the morning...
