Fixin to cut up a large fallen BP tree for a neighbor. It's been sitting for months and I wondered if its OK for a fireplace or if it might burn real fast and not be worth cutting up to fit a fireplace?

It's comparable to maple in terms of burning. You're gonna have fun working it up. My dad does tree work and I help him every now and then. Bradford pear is by far the heaviest wood I've ever laid hands on.

what he said... I had some that I helped clear out of a friends yard. seemed like it took forever to dry out.... but burned ok

Thanks, the tree has been laid over and dead for months all the leaves are still on it and dark brown so I'm thinking it's dried out quite a bit.
