I see people making way to much money chasing hail storms and I want in on the action. I don't want to actually travel or anything just looking to pick up a good side gig. I know of at least 20 cars I could fix right now and haven't even advertised.

My main question is on pricing. Is there a "standard" price per dent or is it more by time? I feel like it's a very secretive industry. I had to get a few dents popped out of a rental truck before I turned it it in so I took it to my bosses friend who does it for a living. When I saw him break out the glue gun I laughed and asked if his job was really that simple. He quickly changed attitude and started pretending he was doing all this intricate stuff even though I could see the metal wasn't moving. Do I really need 20 different rods? Somebody tell me I'm going to get rich quick!

I had a guy do it on my 98 TA many years ago. I had a ton of dings in the rear quarters. He had all these rods and crap and used almost all of them. He also used the glue gun and some kind of rubber/plastic punch and all.

He got every single ding out and it still looks straight almost 8 years later.

My brother in law does it. You can make good money, but no way would I want to try it. It's way more difficult than it looks. And it takes a lot of patience. Some dents require hundreds and hundreds of VERY light pushes to get them out.

You can make a lot of money, but it's not get rich quick. And you really have to be willing to travel to make the big bucks. They watch the weather reports religiously and stay ready to jump in their RV and go within a few hours.

Without a ton of practice you're more likely to screw up more than you fix. Just a tiny bit too much pressure and you stretched the metal and/or cracked the paint.
