I turn on the TV yesterday morning and much to my displeasure I no longer have National Geographic or Comedy Central...there are probably others. TWC must have gotten in another pissing match with the networks.

I tried Google, but couldn't find any info. Anybody have any knowledge?

MTV, VH1, Fox News, and the History Channel are gone too. Time to get a different cable provider! All I ever watch is Nat Geo, Comedy Central, and the History Channel! They could have done away with any of the rest of my channels, but they sh!t can the only three I watch.....typical.

Yea we also lost some channels recently..................but our bill remains the same or has increased ??? WTF??? their customer service is a bad joke also. I left an unpleasant message after hearing " this call may be monitored for blah blah blah" so after waiting too long to speak to someone I ranted obscenly and said " monitor that ". Good luck finding another "cable" provider. You'll have to go highspeed or w the dish

TW is communist bastards from hell that bought all the cable lines in Durham and will not allow any other cable service provider in. Dish is my only option and I would go that route if it weren't for the computer. TW charges almost same for just a computer hookup weather you have cable or not.

Would you look at that....all my channels are back now! I hate you, Ted Turner....or whoever owns TWC now.

We've got AT&T here and I'm itching to get back to TWC. AT&T has slow internet, crappy routers, and poor customer service. TWC has always treated me well with roadrunner. All I have is internet though. TWC's customer service may or may not suck, I don't know because I've never had to use it.

do you or Macdaddy lose signal during storms?

I never have, but I've only had it since November. There really haven't been any terrible storms here (Troy) since then. The only issue's I have had is that sometimes the HD feed for Carolina Hurricanes games skips and stutters, but I blame that on Fox Sports South, considering it's the only channel to do that. Another issue is that there are SO many options, it is a little overwhelming. Not that its a bad thing, but something to think about.

The pro's far outweigh any con's though. Its cheaper than cable for better channels, and I can set the box to record or even watch TV from my smartphone.

I'll 2nd that AT&T brings the suck.

I had Roadrunner for a few years in Gastonia, and it continually clicked offline and would kick me off of online playstation games. I called and called, waiting for hours at times. About the 6th tech they sent out was a young dude with two toned spiked hair, he said he had seen once before the traps blocking the television signal also interfere with the internet signal. He removed the traps from the line, and that was the end of my internet problems.

I've had DirecTV for about 8 years now, when it POURS rain I'll lose my HD channels, but it really has to be raining buckets. If snow builds up on it it'll block the signal too, but that's what, every three years or so? It's a non-issue for me. Other than the price (which, let's be honest, I'd likely complain about no matter who my provider was) I have no complaints.

Occasionally but the storm has to be really bad and on top of the house, but never for any length of time. Also as mentioned it is usually the HD channels I lose (the only ones I really have now), I think this is because the HD satellites are much lower on the horizon than the standard definition channels and are affected more by the storms. These occasional blackouts are not an issue to me because when it happens I am more concerned about trees getting knocked over on to the house.

The only reason we still have TWC is the badass internet....

Y'all got nothing to complain about...we got Charter down here. Worse, our best consistent Internet is DSL -- from Windstream. Yuck.

I just wish a broadcasting company would offer a la carte channel selection. I hate this package crap.

I agree, more than half the channels I pay for I do not want. But that option would make the cable companies loose money and that's not gonna happen soon- ( see Tech11s post )

Nah, you've got it backward. It's actually the big media companies like Viacom that insist on bundling. They go to renegotiate their contract with TWC and tell TWC that they want them to also pick up four new channels they've started, plus pay Viacom an extra $2 per subscriber per month. TWC says 'no way', and Viacom says 'well, then no deal'. So at the end of the month, you lose all your Viacom channels until either TWC or Viacom (or both) back down somewhat from their original position.

The cable companies would probably make more money on an a la carte arrangement, and you wouldn't get stuck with 146 channels that you don't watch.
