Anyone else having issues with Crane High Clearance?

It took them 5 months to send me my D44 diff cover. I know they moved their company but they did not tell me this untill after I got the cover. So I have the cover now and I installed it added some diff fluid and go to put the fill plug in only to find out that the threads are all marred up and the plug won't go in. Just wondering if anyone else is having similar problems? I thought Crane was better than this?

Sure I could go to the machine shop and have them run a tap through it but for the price it should be perfect and plated in gold!

They won't send me a new cover untill I send back the one I have. I think it should be the other way around. They should have to wait for me to send back the messed up cover. Besides who knows when I might get the new cover from them once I send back the old one. LOL

Thought this looked familar.

This is where supporting a local vendor would pay off as they would easily take care of this.

Was the plug in there when you got it? anyway I'd go to sears and get a pipe tap and fix it myself? No one is perfect and things do happen. But I understand your frustration but you need to realize were in a very nitch hobby and to even be able to purchase such custom items like that says alot for the growth in the past few years...

Yeah, the whole ordeal has been going on for about 7 months now. I might just get the pipe tap and be done with it. Crane said they would buy the tap for me. It just sucks to pay so much for a product and have to fix it when I get it.

Wow, this is an old thread...

May of 2007 is when I took over Crane.
