My buddy's dad tore his. After the tear, when he flexed his bicep it looked like a two hump camel. IIRC he never went to the hospital/doctor/physical therapy & consequently his recovery time was rather long.
My dad tore a bicep when he got kicked in the arm by an emu one time. Funny. What is not so funny is that being a typical guy he didn't go to the doctor for a couple weeks, and by that time they said that there was nothing they could do for him. Said that if he had come in right away they could have reattached it, but after some period of time the muscle just dies and you are SOL. So go get that shit looked at, it won't fix itself.
Tore mine at top got it fixed cause it looks like S if u don't my recovery time was like 6 weeks before I got the Ok to train again. But I think I might have went earlier than most.
Both my father and i have torn the tendent from the bone. After surgery dads was fine but even after some pt and a crazy device that twisted my arm, i cant turn my arm over as far as i use to. Will never forget the pop i heard when it happened lol. Good luck!
Mine was torn behind the shoulder socket where it attaches. Had that repaired (called a SLAP repair). Tore it loose about 2 weeks later when I was coughing, of all things. I let it be for a few years. Had it fixed again in February. He shortened the bicep tendon and attached it at the bottom of the slot where it goes up and over and behind the shoulder. Drilled and 8mm hole and screwed it in there. Holding up pretty well, but in addition I had my rotator cuff repaired both times, and it might have torn again. Not sure I want to go through that process a 3rd time.
So I am two months out from surgery now and I have my full range of motion back but still not allowed to pick up any weight. Doc says another six weeks until I can pick up any weight.
