Anyone from Henderson?

Had an interview out there today and I felt it went pretty well, so I suppose I should do my research now rather than have no real reply if I get a call back.

So anyone from Henderson/Oxford area? If so, where are the better places to live out there? No offense to anyone, but everything Ive read on Henderson so far has just been a horror story of high crime and terrible landlords, building conditions, etc. Id have no problem working there, but living there is another issue. Just trying to get a feel of where to live/where to stay away from. I'd really like to avoid an hour commute each way, so Raleigh is out of the picture. Wake Forest looks good but I am a bit worried about rent.

I'm not from there, but I lived in Henderson for about 4 years. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone

My sister lives in Henderson and is a Sheriff's Deputy there. Yotaoffroad27 lives in oxford, Xtoy lives in creedmoor, cumminsdzl lives up that way too. Ill ask my sister where the best parts of Henderson are.

i live in henderson, and previously lived in oxford. Oxford is much better of a town to live in, has alot of older families etc. (less crap). Henderson has some decent areas. i live a mile from the country club and the first thing i do every morning is look out the window to see if anyone is messing with my truck (if that tells you anything). If given the choice i would def tell you to look more to the oxford/creedmoor area

You're the reason I lock my stuff up at night. :flipoff2: Like most places Henderson has some very crappy areas but it also has some decent places to live ( West side of town). I like our neighborhood, pretty quiet and nice neighbors. Wake forest is nice and only about 25 minutes away but the rent will definitely be higher. Oxford is only 10 minutes and Creedmoor is about 25 minutes. If it's a good job I wouldn't hesitate working here and if you don't like the prospect of living in Henderson you can always find a nice place in the country or a surrounding community and have a reasonable commute. Kerr lake is very nice if your in to boating or fishing and the triangle has tons of stuff that is all less than an hour drive. Come on over, we need another off road enthusiast in my area.
Do you mind saying where you are interviewing?

How about just working there?

I wouldn't hesitate to work there, but like others have mentioned, I would live in one of the surrounding towns. Henderson has a fairly cheap cost of living, but that's really about all it has to offer. I lived in one of the nicer neighborhoods in town and literally woke up to my car missing from the driveway. I ran a business on Dabney Dr (one of the main roads in town) and was constantly having people break in to customers cars, etc. I've also lived in Creedmoor and Oxford without issues. I would either look in that direction down 85 or up US1 towards Wake Forest for a place to live.

Hey man, just curious what business on Dabney was yours and which neighborhood your car was jacked from? That sucks!

My business was Sure Sound at 443 Dabney Dr, across from the Golden Skillet (it was Bobbit Surveying when we got it, not sure what it is now). My car was jacked from Fox Run. It was found the next day in a neighborhood that was under construction at the end of a cul de sac completely stripped.

I've gone to a few customer locations in Henderson, and well, given current technology available, some places seemed like you were stepping back into 1975, the actions of the people and some of the locations really gave it a time warp sort of feel.

there is one of the few operating drive in theaters in Henderson though !
