Anyone have a computer for a 2000 Silverado 2500 I can borrow?

You can't just swap PCMs like that on LS based engines. The VIN in the PCM must match the VIN in the BCM. If you dropped one in from another truck without reprogramming first it would lock up the VATS and not start. Besides, the PCMs in these trucks are pretty robust and don't typically have issues like some other vehicles.

If you really wanted to try, I do have a spare PCM from my 01 2500HD I could sell, but you would have to take it and have it reflashed to your VIN first.

What kind of electrical problems are you having?

SOB, fuck a bunch of that. I'll sell the damn truck first.

The gauges jump around, most of the time everything but the trans temp one work ok. Trans temp one works about 10% of the time. Most of the other gauges work all the time, but the speedo and coolant temp jump around occasionally. Plus the torque converter won't unlock and heats up the transmission. It also has some fuel control issues. It really seems like an issue with the computer. All grounds are ok, wiring all seems fine, etc.

Check your harness connections they might be loose and check each individual wire at each connection

Ill give you scrap price for it :)

I had some of the same problems on my 2000 Chevy 2500 work truck. I even had a issue with the trans where it was popping a bunch of codes for the solenoids. It ended up being the electrical ignition switch. Just a thought

My mom's Envoy had the ignition switch crap out and did all sorts of funky shit. Luckily, knock on wood, my late 99 hasn't had a minutes trouble with the gauge cluster.

If you were closer I could probably pull the factory tune and do a "write entire" on a spare PCM I have behind the seat of my truck and swap them. Not only does the VIN have to chive with the other modules, but in the PCM itself, the VIN has to match the Operating System. I went through that crap when I was tuning my truck and doing the 6.0 swap because it had been tuned prior to buying my own copy of HP Tuners...that was a fun time.

A buddy of mine swears a PCM he bought through a mail order tuner was giving him problems, but I'm with GCncsuHD, these computers are pretty tough.

One of the inspectors here drives an '04 Silverado county truck. The thing has no gauges that work. I think the tach does but it stops at like 3k.

At one point he took it to some shop and they told him it was a faulty instrument panel and they would have to replace the whole thing. I think the quote was 900 but I'm not sure.

GM extended the warranty on the instrument cluster for the 03-05s that had the common faulty clusters, but it was 7yrs so it's out for him now. But dude at the shop was raping him at $900. An entire rebuilt cluster is only ~$200, and there are plenty of services around that will replace the stepper motors (the issue with the clusters) for ~$100 or so. But they are pretty simple to replace yourself if you can operate a soldering iron.
