Anyone have experience with TPO roofing?

Had some rotten soffit replaced at the house, which lead to the discovery that the flat roof portion of the house was leaking which rotted the roof deck.

So I had to replace the flat roof. It had old EPDM on it, replaced with TPO. Roofers came out today and the job looks a little questionable to me. I have no experience with roofing so I have no clue if this is normal or just a poor job.

I've attached a few pics. In many place the roof overlaps the roof flashing, and is really poorly cut. Definitely noticeable from the ground. Is that right? Can I cut that flush myself, or should it be left alone?

There are quite a few air bubbles in it to. I wouldn't call them wrinkles, which I understand are standard for a flat roof depending on temperature, but these seem quite large. One picture shows the corner where it's all messed up. I've read this can sometimes mean the installer didn't allow the adhesive to "flash"? Is this okay?

Final thing, I can't tell exactly how the flashing was installed. It appears it may have just been glued down. I can't feel and mechanical fasteners under the roof and there's nothing under the edge of the roof either.

I understand it's a roof and it doesn't have to be perfect, but it just looks a bit sloppy to me. Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks for confirming. I thought this looked kinda poor. Few more pictures for good measure. Yes the gutters need to be cleaned. Will be doing that this weekend.

As an aside, when I have a quality roof installed, how do you walk on this stuff? Any special precautions?

Please tell us you haven’t paid them sorry SOB’s. Pure shit work is all I have.
I have not. And will not be. Can anyone recommend reputable companies in the Troy Albemarle Asheboro area?

Oh should also add that what prompted this was some rotten roof decking. I've attached a pic. It's that terrible black spot. Shouldn't they have replaced that while the roof was off?

Yes and the vertical 2x that your gutter is attached to but that’s usually additional to a regular roof job but should have been brought up to you when they pulled the old roofing off

The soffit job was already in progress, that's what prompted the roof replacement once they discovered the leak. Fascia board and soffit will be replaced by my contractor. I just assumed those rotten roof deck boards would go at the time the roof got replaced.

I should add, the quote was 2,450. It's roughly 300 square feet. Quote was supposed to include repairing flashing and sealing around plumbing vents and chimney. It doesn't appear that they did that either.

Looks like a shit job. I’ve probably done enough TPO roofs that I’d have to think of the total area ive done in acres rather than squares. Rotten wood was always replaced, always. Manufacturers wouldn’t warranty anything if it wasn’t installed correctly.

If you are worried about walking on it, add another ply to high traffic areas.

I used Tru Restoration when I had my shingles & gutters replaced in Concord before I moved. Guys name is Denny...704.774.9469. Seemed like they did a pretty good job. Not sure if they do TPO roofing.

My first house had front & back porches, with minimum pitch. The back was even less pitch. Neither leaked with shingles, until I had the singles replaced. Couldn't get the back porch not to leak. A Pro came out & laid a flat rubber roll on it, which Fixed it. What I remember, is he used a torch on the adhesive & rubber, as he laid it. It was Smooth as Butter! That was probably 25-30 years ago, whatever they used then.
