How hard are the to maintain, install, etc?

I am going to be redoing my deck at some point this summer, and I REALLY think I want to put a hot tub in. I have a spot I can extend my deck to and install it, so I'm really thinking about it. I'm going to put a roof and everything over it. Should be really nice if I can convince my wife that I can do it nicely.

Gotta fix some other stuff around the house first, but I'm really wanting to get one and this would be perfect for the deck.

Any advice?

I have one for quite a few years.

My first advice is go 220 volt. You want to be able run your heater and the pumps at the same time. Without 220 - that doesn't work. Don't consider anything else.

I use these folks for parts...

Another good company....

Water - if you have a well - you need Iron Out. I like Bromine not Chlorine for the water. Shock it every week with something safe for Bromine. Clean your filters - change the water when it needs it. At every water change - use Perfect PH or any PH Stabilization product. They make maintaining the sanitizer levels easier. Check the water everyday - stay consistent on checking and you'll find a rhythm to the chemical balance - and can start skipping water checks everyday.

Repairing the things is not rocket science - except for the control packs. However, with a schematic, they can be done by someone other than 'hot tub repairman.' I did toss a spa pack into mine a few years ago. I got it from spadepot. The cost was less than what the 'hot tub repairman' wanted for service calls fees etc.

I don't have a hot tub, but the G/Fs parents do...it's the deal.
