Im having a hard time finding a new rear rim for my bike, and im having bike stores tell me they cant find/get a 48 spoke 24 inch rim, some have told me that they dont exist, but ive got one right here that ive destroyed over the course of the last year

i guess the problem is that no one does street bmx on a 24, except for me apparently, so i cant find anything but more race oriented wheels

of course i could probbly call up DK, since the wheel came on this bike, and get them to send me a rim, but im tired of this little alloy peice of crap wheel and would love to upgrade to something stout, and preferably chrome, so my brakes will work a little better

anyway, maybe if one of you work at a bike shop, you are a little smarter than the guys ive talked to, and can use that giant book of parts better and help me find something?

Tell Charles that Taylor sent you
word

Where is this place? I've never (to my knowledge) seen it. Wait, is that the new shop on the corner by Hanes Park? The shop with no parking lot?

Halo makes the Combat rim in that size and hole pattern ($55 per rim). They are available through BTI which a majority of the bike shops use as a parts supplier. I think Gusset may make a rim in those dimensions too, they are in the BTI book. These are mountain bike rims but are burly like BMX rims. The trend in BMX seems to be heading toward 36 hole for weight savings while new school rims still retain the strength of the old 48 standard, so you may have even more trouble finding them in the future. A well built 36 hole 3 cross non drive side/4 cross drive side is pretty strong and easier to source parts for.

thanks for the ideas,

sin3kal, ive thougth about going to a 36, but my hub is fine, so i would just assume saving the money and keeping it, but thanks, ill look into those two, at least i have some specific names to ask for when i go into a bike store and ask now

i called and talked to charles for you, he said there are plenty of options, to call him and talk to him directly, he will get you set up reaaaal nice like

:driver:

ok, thanks, i pass through winston quite a bit, since im in school in raleigh, so that will work good

appreciate it guys

yeah Mock Orange is really the only shop that anyone should ever consider going to to buy a bike. not only does it look incredible, but they carry lots of lines, and have the best service probably in most of the country
