Anyone in Elkin??

Hey all, i was just wondering if there was anybody on here that lives or knows the Elkin area. We are going to be looking to relocate after the girlfriend graduates and we are going to go up and check out the area a little bit. Any good restaurants in the area to stop at for lunch?? any events or festivals through out the year?? do they have strict building laws or regulations??? any info would help out.. thanks!!

I lived there for a year about 14 years ago and still have lots of friends there. Its a small town not to much to do. I will be up there sunday working on one of my friend's car. I visit all the time just for a cheap get away.

few guys on here, rokntoy, fulwidthyj, couple more just cant remember there names. Im about 15mins from elkin, and there are a bunch of guys here from mt. airy, about 30 mins from elkin.

I dont know about regulations on building or anything but for the most part 5 mins and you are outta city limits, you could be in surry, yadkin, or wilkes county. All are within a few miles.

Festivals, Elkin has a few festivals every year, Pilot Mtn has the mayfest and cruiseins everymonth, mt. airy has the autumn leaves festival.

Resteraunts, Jonesville, across the bridge from elkin, Cracker Barrell, enuf said! lol, There are a couple of steak house resteraunts in elkin that are pretty good, basin creek, and i cant remeber the name of the other place.
