Willing to help me fix the timing on an 86 ford ranger?
I'll pay in pints or food. I can't get it right, I can either set it to where it idles fine, but then hesitates and runs like crap, or i set it to run fine, but it won't idle for crap.

I'm obviously missing something here.
(and I'd need to borrow another timing gun, as mine magically went away) :shaking:

Sounds like something is causing the timing advance to not kick in whether its a sensor or computer or maybe the distributor, I'm not exactly sure how the ignition is setup on that particular truck but it will give you another idea to look for. I had the same problem on a 94 dakota and ended up being the crank position sensor.
