Hi all,
I'm new on here, and live near Asheville. I picked up a 96 Nissan D21 4x4 for working on the house and general hauling of crap, then the wife and I took it off-road and thought that was pretty damn cool. Now we'd like to do some more wheelin', and maybe meet up with some folks in the area who'd know good places to go. Not doing any rock crawlin or trying to pop the beads with the D21 (mostly stock except for 31.5 tires) but just some light stuff to get a little dirty and flex the suspension some.

We went to worlds edge in Hendersonville back in January, had to squeeze through and under some trees. Now I see why those trucks with racks on the roof have never been in the woods! We had a great time, and the truck did really well. It's a short wheelbase with 2.4 litre and 5 speed. Manual hubs and whatnot.

Anybody out there for a day of wheeling?

Flat Rock here (Henderson County).
Picking up my Full Size Bronco in a couple days and looking for the same thing. New to wheeling myself and just want to flex the suspension and get a little dirty.

Thanks jeff b. Looks like a nice place to go.

Autobot- Hit me up sometime and we'll do something. Let me know if you know anywhere near flat rock to go.

I am don't know if it is possible to go wheeling here, but there is a drained lake between Hendersonville and Caesars Head. I saw while riding motorcycles with friends so didn't get to check it out.
There are some small ruts that water cut through and it could be good and muddy (dunno).

(you might have to zoom out a bit)

Like I said, I should be picking up the truck hopefully by tomorrow and I need new tires on it too which are already ordered.

Yeah, it seems a bit far for that one. The Gulches thing looks pretty cool though. Might be worth trying out.

Derrick, Not ot be a prick or anything but about five trucks, and jeeps did a clean up/trail ride day on worlds edge and I seen a jeep cherokee with 35's and a roof rack lead the group, and make a few new trails. So moral of the story is watch what you say, never know who's listening.

I've been there once but from what I remember you need to be locked pretty much and probably a little bigger tire. If it's more than an hours drive it probably won't be worth it to you cause it is a small park. Mt. City wouldbe a nice ride in the woods for you and you can flex all you desire if you want to.

No problem, wouldn't think you were being one. When we went down, there was a place with a tree across the road. The tree was about 6-8ft diameter, and had been notched with a chainsaw just enough for a small vehicle to get through. I spotted it from afar and thought, oh crap, but we JUST cleared it after going up on the bank. I was thinking that anything bigger wouldn't have made it without logging tools or something. It was pretty near the bottom. I'm glad someone maintains that place a bit. It's pretty sad at the top where there's so many broken bottles and garbage and junk.

Why's that? I had heard some group bought the property. I was hoping they would clean it up some...
