So i just got back last week from a short 3 night vacation at myrtle beach over the 4th of july holiday finally got to see where they stripped out the pavillion...damn that changed the whole atmosphere of the strip...myrtles defenitely not what it use to be...even a year ago...anyone know what there putting in place of the pavillion in that spot?

(im sure a hotel of some sort but im keeping my fingers crossed for a different answer)

i think condos or a hotel, my dad's friend is supposed to be doing the building of whatever it is i think but i cant remember what he told me

I've got to go for a bachelor party the 27th of this month..please tell me they aren't still cruising for miles and miles...that would be wonderful.

Let me know if you need anything while you're down here Greg.

There has been no announcement on what will be going in that site. I have a good freind that works for Burroughs and Chapin that does the studies when the architects come up with a plan and he helps decide whether the project is feesible. So far...they can't say anything. There was talk a while back about hotels, but the hired developer that was involved in that was fired and now has been brought up on charges of fraud.

So right now its all in limbo. One of the major investors in that area (owns alot of the ocean front shops) mentioned that a casino was brought up as an option, but a long shot having something to do with an indian reservation easement or something that would allow them to bypass the zoning laws. I beleive that was far fetched and a longshot that is would even be considered by Burroughs and Chapin.

With Myrtle Beach's downtown redevelopment committee involved in it I expect it to turn out great. Go see what theres plans (some underway) are for the former air base. Its amazing what they came up with.

Ill bet dollars to donuts it is a high end condo project, with 2 back up generators...

I was shocked not that the pavilion was gone, but that the Attic was torn down also, dont get me wrong I hadnt been inside in 10+ years, but still, Just did not know it was going....damn

Well, the Pavilion is actually the building that the attic is in. Thats were the shagging started many years ago. The amusement park was actually called the Pavilion Amusement park and was built later from my understanding.

They'd be stupid to build high end condos right now. If they do that, the'll wait a while to see if the market gets better. Its pretty well flooded now.

Went down to North Myrtle - when did they level the NMB grand prix track to?
Maybe the new Hard Rock theme park will be getting some of the old rides or maybe they will sell them to the old amusement park and perk it up - where the swamp fox roller coaster is.

I did cruise that strip in my youth, through the rear driveshaft near the Gay Dolphin popping wheelies - I was so stupid and ignorant then, still am some say.

THey took the Grand Prix down a year ago, they leased the land for a shopping center including a grocerie store to make money off of the Barefoot Resort residents. The family kingdom where the swamp fox is happens to be a different owner than the rest of the parks and I dought any of the rides go there. The Grand Pri's (the one that used to be east of the air port and the one in NMB) were owned by the Lazaris family who also owns the big Wild Water and Wheels in Sufside. Didn't pay attention, but some of the rides may have gone there, while the go carts, etc. probably are being run at the track at the Wild Water site.

As far as the nasty lady and the watermellons, I'm kinda supprised at that, but everybody wants to make a buck. Downtown isn't the best part of Myrtle by far.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am heading down that way in 2 weeks. But now I only get to do the family thing. NoMo freaky tiki for me.
