Bought this house in September. Built in 1984. Low pressure septic system. We had the tanks pumped, drain lines flushed, and inspected prior to closing. Had the pump replaced in December. Prior to all the heavy rain we recently had, we noticed a few places where the water was coming up to the surface. Flushed the lines again to ensure no clogs. Still seeing water come to the surface.

I’ve seen online a Terralift procedure where they essentially use high pressure air to frac the ground under and around the drain lines. They also pump beads in the fissures to hold them open. This supposedly allows the water to drain down as it should.

Has anyone had this done? Did you get good results?

I should also mention our drain field has a lot of trees. Septic company said that could be part of the problem and wondered why anyone would put a drain field amongst so many trees. I replied that the house is 34 years old, those trees may not have been there at construction.

I imagine that process is priced somewhere between what it's worth, and what it would cost to build a new field. One of those "got you by the sack" pricing schemes.

Do you have room to do a new field? If roots from the trees are a problem, they'll always be a problem.

The entire property is wooded. Moving it in 1 direction would mean it drains towards the house, moving in another direction I’d be concerned about my well. Another option would be to move it to the lot next door, which I also own, but it is more heavily wooded than our lot.
What does a new drain field cost? What I’ve been told is the Terralift is about $1500, but that wasn’t an official quote.

The healt dept should have the septic plan with the reserve field located. Just had a new field installed at my rental property. 2 bed, 1 bath, 1 kitchen on each side. 1000 gal tank stayed. Asked for as much field as I could get. $3k price tag IIRC.
