there is no room for a pad on the bracket side!

what am i doing wrong?!

ps- don't mind the spray paint, it'll all be black once the isntallation is done :)

NO ROOM FOR THE DAMN PAD on the back side of the rotor between rotor and bracket. if bracket was welded to the opposite side of the flange then it would work, I THINK, but this is a bolt on kit... BOLT ON meaning it shoudl come out of the box and bolt on... NOT take me a week of screwing around with to install.

if you are running these brackets please for the love of god tell me what parts you used....

IF you are running ANY bolt on disc brake conversion kit then please tell me what you are running and post pics if possible!

thank you

I see you finally got your stuff from them. They just showed the same problem last night on Chop cut rebuild and they were using Curry. They ended up having to call curry to get the right stuff. I know it's no help but you are not alone. Did you guys go to URE last weekend?

We used BTF conversion on my B-I-L's truck.
But it looked different then what you ahve going there

I'm confused looking at your pics wondering if they changed something.

I cussed the kit he bought because the caliper mounted outboard of the bracket, so the bolt supported 100% of the caliper force and that didnt seem to be secure enough for me. But if you move your outboard you would have even less room for pad.

Is the bracket notched enough for the pad at the piston hole?
if so could you shim it back off the bracket?
I see the BTF kit called for 3/4 ton front brakes to use out back, did you use new pads and rotors (from the 70s 3/4) or only pads?

i understand the whole full floating thing but the problem is that the pad itself won't even fit between the bracket and the rotor.... if i could get the pad in there somehow, the ears on the sides would hit the bracket and depending which side of the bracket i slipped the pads into the ears would either keep it from touching the rotor EVER or the ears would prohibit the pad from going in at all.

this is what i'm using for parts:

hard to explain...

either way, i'm going to try the other rotors and see what happens. this really sucks.

and yea, i finally got my blue torch stuff. took just less than a month... and then they shorted me two b-bolt pads or whatever they are for my dana60 rear so i had to call and get that settled... i got the pads yesterday, which was 1 month and 2 days after placing my original order.... bs if you ask me...

advance auto parts..

1975 K2500 pickup 3/4 ton

front rotor

part number 141049

everything fits now, hooray for me, boo for blue torch fab's fucked up parts list that cost me 4 days and $100 worth of rotors that i now have to strip paint off in order to return....

rear brakes

ohhh, so I wasnt the ony person in the world to have this issue. Only after cutting and welding mine to mate up did I find out that there is a HD brake setup on some rear D60's that sits the tube flange and rear of hub at different distances (than most setups). All of my parts were the same as yours, so I bet its the same issue. Mine was a late model E350 SRW van axle. I just cut the bracket, slipped it back over the tube and welded it back together and then bolted it on. Can send pics of final result to a PM if you wish.

that is exactly what i was going to do if i couldn't get it resolved but it didn't make sense to me that a bolt on kit would need to be hacked up and welded... and i'll be damned i'd want some money back from BTF IF that was the case.

well the tube fenders are done... pretty much hate them so far...

snorkel is installed.... what a pain in the ass....

disc brake conversion is complete.....

front axle is still in pieces...

but either way, i'm about to go put the axles under the jeep now... now everyone keep their fingers crossed that the jeep doesn't fall off the cinder blocks again.

this is what we had to do with a set I helped to install a little over a year ago. Called them and they had no idea it wasn't working...

we got fed up with fawking with it and ended up cutting the bottom half of the bracket off and welding it to the axle...

So the jeep fell off the blocks? thats scary. I can't wait to see it when it is done. My buddy just got back from Iraq and picked his Jeep up. He had a Dana 44 front and 60 rear with the 8" rock krawler lift put on and some 39 Boggers. The thing looks mean. He goes back to Iraq and his buddy is going to put in his LT1 for him. he got a deal on that too. Whole Camaro for $1500. Post up the pics when your done. Good luck
Doug

maaaan i want an lt1... hehe

sounds like his setup and mine ought to be pretty similar aside from the whole leaf spring vs coil spring thing..... oh, and the fact that he's about to have 8 cylinders of torque under the hood.... as opposed to my 4 angry squirrels......

pictures to come tomorrow

today was a full day of beer and axle swappage!

dunno who rob is and i didn't want weld-on. i already had an order pending with BTF when i bought them so it was no big deal. i'm not complaining about the $100.... they are a quality product for sure.
