Anybody here still daily driving their first truck/car? I'm still driving my '91 Nissan 4x4 pickup everyday....going on 17 years now!

I *Wish*,i was driving a lot of them! Several would be worth some $$$$$$$$$ today! Kind of setting record on my pick up, of 10 years.
But my # 1, is my Golden Eagle CJ 7; owned for 27.5 years, now! There are a couple of guys, that got that beat.:D

I've only been driving for 5 years and I'm on my third vehicle. Got a '99 F250 when I turned 16, traded it to my dad for his '00 Wrangler when I was 17, then sold it after I bought my current '06 Wrangler Unlimited when I was 18. I never plan on getting rid of this one.

Toyota.jpg 1985 check out the dual exhaust out the back! bought it that way. PO had straight pipes all the way to the 2 tubes from the manifold, they cut out the y pipe and no mufflers or cats, sounded like an angery bumblebee.

Stuck in the backyard.jpg blown motor in tow, donor truck in the background, and the leach field . I swear this was the ONLY time this truck was ever stuck..........and in the backyard . If I had'nt removed the SSs from the front it prolly would have made it....

Next year I will have owned my 84 Toyota for 30 years. It's been rolled on it's side( drunk); about totaled ( crash on I-40 @ 60mph, not my fault ) hit a car from behind ( my fault ), open door ripped off by a tree as I got out and it rolled backwards on a steep hill ( drunk ), and the original motor was driven for 6 months w a blown headgasket (stuck thermo-overheated in mid 90s w 186k ) until it pissed coolant from the exhaust. I replaced it w an all original, 82 22R w 42k ( now has 95k. It was a DD for the first 15 yrs and driven every weekend or more until 2 years ago, as a work, hunting, trash, firewood hauler, and has performed MANY offroad recoveries in it's life. The only original bodyparts are the hood, tailgate and cab....................... she's a keeper.

We are close...I bought my CJ-5 (1973 model) in June of 1986...27.75 years. :D

Paid $2k for it. IF I had put the 2k cash into Microsoft instead (1986), I'd own a small island in the Bahamas right now.

I still own my first one, 2nd one, and 3rd one. Got my license in 2006 . If I had saved all the money I've spent on the Silverado or K30, I could probably have paid for a house. Luckily, my 85 S10 was free :D I guess that qualifies me as cheap!

I wish my dad still had his first car....it'd be sweet to have a 57 Chevy! Or his next one which was a 62 (or 65...can't remember) Impala, 2dr, hard top... :driver:

I've never kept a dd for more than 2 years. The longest I ever kept a vehicle was my truggy (that I just sold) for 8 years. My first was a 86 CJ7 that was totaled in an accident a yr after I got it.

I still have my first rig...had it for 13 years now. A frame off restoration kinda negated the cheap aspect though. My 79 Bronco is my cheap hooker though...had it 7 years...pretty sure the only thing keeping it together is bubble gum and newblet tears.

I don't see it as being cheap. I wish I could say the same, because Ive had several vehicles I wish I could have back. Starting with what started it all, my first YJ, or maybe that '89 Toy diesel, or that 84 FS Bronco, or the TJ...... I think I have a problem

"87 Samurai. 1st and only vehicle I ever bought new.
Sometime in the early 90's during an extremely cold winter, weak anti-freeze got the motor in sub zero temps.
Scrimped and saved for 4 months to get the money for an engine and pay for the work.
A bad install ( which i did not find out about until much later) and the engine spun a bearing in 6 weeks.
Up until now, still basically stock.
Parked it for 6 years .... a random phone call from a friend scored an engine for $250.00 with the wife and I doing the work.
That's when it all started .... until it ended up like it is now.
3 transmissions, 4 engines, Jeep parts , tracker parts, aftermarket parts ...........

I'll keep it forever.

I've had my 99 TJ for 12 years now. Only has 123k on it but it's not my DD anymore

I bought a 99 Ranger new in 99, and kept it until this past fall when I traded it in on a relatively new civic. I couldnt afford to DD the Ranger, and the car I had been DD'ing was about to hit 250k and I didnt want to start spending money on it. The Ranger only had 98,000 miles when I traded it in.

Shouldn't have gotten rid of it!

Anything is badass with an 8.1!

Does it really matter? :D I'd really guessing 8.1 gas, I know a 5.9 weighs almost 1200lbs....so making a poor ol El Camino hold an 8.1 Cummins would be pure mean!

I don't think the 8.1 is LS based though, as far as I know the only similarities are in the ECM with the fuel and spark tables.

glad to see I'm not the only one still holding on! With any luck the Nissan trucks will be a collectors item in the future .

I guess I can still be considered young , tknopp, pushing 33 this year.

Never been a fan of being taking on any kind of debt, I guess thats my main reason for driving it till the wheels fall off, a few times . Probably why my low/no budget Toyota cab hybrid crawler and '36 chevy truck will take forever to complete , haha.

Ok u got me... Gm based, that better??? Lol

Hm guess I'm not as exciting.
Got an XJ in early '95. Had it > 8 years until it was totally by somebody else hitting it. I prob never would have replaced it.
Then got my 4Runner... which I still have... coming up on 11 years now in May. It hasn't really been driven in a few years.
the Mazda I DD I've had for 5 years, prior to that had one just like it 3 years (replaced only b/c of an accident)... and plan to be DDing it for many more years...

at the age of 37 I've only owned 6 cars, and that includes a "temp" car while I was repairing my motor, and my extra truck now.
