Ok, my last Jeep didnt have any of the hardware for a softtop, so a bikini and windjammer was the most it ever got on it.

The new to me YJ has a soft top but man that sucker has drawed up and INCHES away from being close to fitting?

I know from the days I had a Kayline top on my Blazer that they work MUCH better going on when warm...but when it is warm I don't NEED the stupid top...

So...hints or suggestions on getting this thing to fit? I have the front hooked in along the windshield... and on one rear corner but only by letting the rear hoop come pretty far fwd on the bottom.

Where is the rear hoop "supposed" to be sitting? Straight up/down (seems like the bottom is out of the track then) or is there a specific notch or anything?

Now...lets assume for a moment I go ahead and order a "replacement top" from Bestop...which I may do since the current one has small rips/tears and a big tear in drivers rear corner where it seperated from the track part.

Any suggestions on protecting it/installing it right?

Sam...getting too old for going bikini only in 38 degrees...Hinton (yeah those who know me just puked a little bit with that visual image heheheheh)

I usually put all the plastic parts up to the body first, then pushed the B bar into place... It goes vertical.... Then I would pull the rear hoop toward the tailgate, it also goes vertical... Then the small connecting rods up top snap into place and you should be good to go.... Let me know if you need more help...

Leave your soft top inside for a day or so so it can warm up. Put the top on first and then zip the windows in. So what are the specs on your new jeep? Got any pics?

Keep it in the garage if possible(slightly warmer). If you have a space heater of some sort, crank it up near the top. Try a hair dryer? My BestTop documentation doesn't recommend putting up up at less than 60 degrees.

Tuesday it's supposed to get up to 60 ish... Find a nice warm spot of concrete/ashphalt in your driveway where the sun is beaming down. Spread it out threre for an hour or so, then try it.

I don't know what kind of top you have, but try to get instructions for it. Factory top will be in the owners manual, I got instructions from BestTopdotcom. If not for the instructions, I would have never got the top on....

the rear bow doesn't go exatly vertical. there's a notch in the slider thing for it to sit in. it can be a huge pain when cold. i usually set up the door surrounds, hook the windshield part, hook the soft top at the rear corners by the tailgate, then stand up the rear hoop and then set the spreader bars. then you gotta wrestle the windows in. lol

this is an older bestop replacement is our guess... I have the top on without the windows at the moment but one corner is torn...not really working well.

Got a durn rear deck cover, also being a pain, too narrow to cover the rear. You would think they could make these things easier...1" wider or something.

I am prob gonna just throw the bikini back on, add a windjammer, figure out the deck cover and forget a top. This is a sunny day only kinda car for me anyway.

Would be nice to have more cover but not willing to pay the big bucks for a new supertop, and afraid a replacement top from bestop is gonna be just as big a pain.
