ASAP* Please god help me before i shoot myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok were taking the third member out of my buddys 94 runner. the shafts are out and everything. all the bolts are out of the third member but it wont budge. we have tapped it all the way around with a hammer, beat the piss out the member with a hammer, tried to wedge it out with a screwdriver, tapped the phlange, and it still dosent budge. we also sprayed it with like a half a can of pb. please help we need to get this out ASAP
 
if the bolts are out and the shafts are too then it should come out...are any of the bolts bent? How much RTV is holding it
 
you need to wedge a small chisel or scredriver in between the case and housing, that should definatly pop it open. Its gotta be sharp and small, Sometimes they are a pain in the ass

Also, don't just beat mindlessly on the case, wedge something in there and use some mechanical advantage
 
well this is the stock 3rd it has had a hurting on it over the years and the damn thing is just stuck. but i don't think that any of the bolts are bent or so i can see

I always use a pry bar just for leverage purposes.
Unless you are overlooking something, there really shouldn't be too much holding it back from coming out. Just get a little opening going and move your way clockwise around the 3rd until it continues to come off.

Holy drunken post batman! WTF and Where da fawk did that come from.

If the shafts are removed and the bolts are off the third it should slide out of the axle easily. Did you remove the driveshaft? :)
 
As was said, you need to get something small in there and create a small gap, and go from there...
 
if it is still in the vehicle....place a jack under the pinion flange and lift slightly. it will break the seal.
 
Hey...at least you got your shafts out first...I know I'm guilty of yankin' on a 3rd for a few minutes before realizing there's still some shafts stuck in there...

what is funny, and sad at the same time, is that Tim Dog's post I would consider quite a bit more offensive than the post that somehow managed to offend him:shaking:

and why would you type G*D? do you think that it is blasphemous for God's name to be typed? It should only be spoken? i sure dont see it spelled G*D in the bible?

Take a thin metal scraper, like a putty knife, and tap it between the member and the housing. then run it around between the housing and memebr to slice thru any silly-cone. of course you'll have to work around the studs.

Yes breaking the seal and prying , if possible, evenly around all sides. If by some possibility, that housing center section is so bent the pig is pinched in the housing, good luck getting another one back in!

I'll ask my wife what she did to get her's out...she had to do it again yesterday. When I got back home she said it was a PITA to get out, but she just used a BMFH and a chisel...I on the other hand went and played golf.:flipoff2:
