I use purple power on mine. Been doing it on my 04 Passat since 2007, and the paint on the car and the wheels looks like brand new (when its clean, haha). Just don't let it sit for more than about a minute. I wax the car once a year, and I always wash it with purple power to cut the old wax off. Works great.

If those wheels don't have a clearcoat, don't use purple power though. It will change the finish on the aluminum. But they are probably clearcoated.

It may still have cosmoline on it. Call them and ask if they'll clean it. Or you'll have to use a solvent based cleaner to get it off. Try some gas on a rag and wipe an area and see. If you're worried about your paint, take the wheel off.

looks like you drove through some mud? Have you considered using actual tire cleaner...? it's not like they stay shiny for more than a day.

This is one reason I seldom get on this board, smart asses. Did you happen to read the post? No, you didn't. I said that I immediately went home and cleaned them WITH DEGREASER AND A TIRE BRUSH (there, can you see it now)? The tire has been this way ever since time after time of trying to clean it with different types of degreaser's. I will try some gas on a rag when I get the chance. Thanks for those of you who had an actual comment that was worth something.

I've thought about Purple Power but like you said I'm not 100% sure if the wheels are clearcoated and I just purchased them so I might hold off on it. Thanks for the advice though.

Is this a real thread? Just pull the wheel off get some tire and wheel cleaner and clean it.

And tire "shine" helps your tires more so then just looks, soaks in and prevents dry cracking
( original armor all is best product for tire life)

Which a flat black rubber on a gloss black car is fugly l o l

Or go to discount n ask them to fix it ( but I bet they'll just shine it again )

haha you smart asses!! being you cant get a good polite answer here go post this on pirate they are really nice to stupid questions!

scared to death!!!!!

all bear poking aside, go back to the tire shop and tell them this is un aceptable, the will get you a new tire, no issues, we deal with this ever so often but go on back pretty soon

Gasoline actually worked really well! Took every bit of the white film off. I'm guessing it was just mold release or something I'm not sure but it got all of it off. Thanks for the help! :driver:

No problem its a product residue of the mold release like you said.

Putting gas on. A tire is a horrible idea .... Petroleum does bad things for the rubber.

In he future use ajax powder on a stiff bristle brush works well...

Btw note braxton said se TIRE CLEANER. And you replied hey dumbass I used degrease....degreaser works by dissolving petroleum based products like rubber bonder used in tire production...tats shy he said se TIRE CLEANER....

Dude im sorry to say this but hey this is the general tech section of a offroad website and you post some silly question about cleaning a little girly tyre on a little girly car then get all pissed off when somebody gives you a little ribbing about it. We drive big ole offroad type junk around here I hardly think this is an appropriate question for this forum although some of our members are happy to offer assistance why don't you go to some gay little car site and ask them in the future or thicken up the old skin a bit and recognize that were just messing around with ya or just tap out

Putting gas which is a petroleum is harmful to the tire, most tire shines and spray aerosol cleaners these days contain Heptane so either way its just better to let the tires stay muddy:driver:
