Wanted to say thanks for all the great recommendations last year on my trip to Asheville. Had a great time.

Ate at 13 Bones and Rocky's, both excellent. Any other recommendation?

Going back on Sunday. I'd really like to find a creek/river to fish some. I'll just be throwing a regular rod and reel. No fly fishing for me. I'd love to try and catch a trout or small mouth bass to clean in my hotel room.

I'd like to stay within 45 min or so of Asheville.

If you like asian then Thai Orchid is delicious. Also Mast General Store is a fun place to stop and shop.

Last time I was in the area my wife and I actually stayed at a cabin in Hot Springs, about an hour north of Asheville.

If you are looking for a remote, primitive mountain getaway I would suggest Hot Springs over Asheville. We had a blast and the peace and quiet was very relaxing.

We have been eating here since the 90's.......... http://www.eastvillagegrille.com/ not the most expensive, not the cheapest and I am sure folks would say there are "better places" but we always enjoy the food and usually good service- 6-7pm fri and sat you will wait :)

If you enjoy people watching go to the drum circle on Friday at Pritchard park from 6 to 10 p.m. nothing like the smell of weed sweat and patchouli. Another good place is the odditorium on Haywood rd.

Sierra Nevada brewery has a good meal as well.

Hrmmm if you want a guarantee trout catch 45 minutes from Asheville, the davidson river in brevard is hard to top

I wouldn't call it a meal. More like overpriced hors d'oeuvres.

Asheville Pizza and Beer is one I stop at every summer on the way back from Harlan. Cool place. They have a game room and movie theater and a Star War's themed bar area. And they brew some pretty interesting beers!

I'll be there Saturday floating through town on the river and drowning in the bars that night. Probably be hitting up the taxi guy on here for a ride or 3.

Shrug, you can get burgers or a steak or smothered sauted chicken...each comes with a side (fries/veggies/whatever) Id say thats a meal.
They have the table share hors d'oeuvre as well.

The price is a bit high, for sure, but its still a cool ass place. And to be fair everytime I've been it has been a business event and the tab went on an expense account so I might not have noticed. ;)

No doubt on the cool factor. We went there this past weekend. $108 million to construct. That might explain the copper duct work.

That's a real low number. That might have paid for just the copper. Especially since they are already expanding.

I've heard quotes as high as 295 MM

If you don't want to wait in line 45 min for breakfast at sunny point or biscuit head, check out Barleycorn and get a Bloody Mary with a smoked rib.

Doc Chey's noodle shop great little restauraunt in downtown.

And Asheville brewing company, Dinner, movie, beer. probably my favorite place there.

North Mills River is really close to Sierra Nevada. I caught a couple of brook trout out there last week with my son. Also, check out Wicked Weed Brewing downtown.

For anyone looking for more suggestions, Curate Spanish Tapas Bar. RIDICULOUS! But note, this ain't mountain food, this ain't pizza, this is some exotic food that I'd slap my mama for! Not cheap either. Wife and I just had lunch there and it was $120 out the door. But I'd do it again! The Spanish ham from a Blackfoot pig is freakin amazing!!!
