We are having 4 very large Pines removed from beside our driveway due to them leaning towards our house. These trees are 100'+. Wife called Progress energy, they will drop the power lines and reconnect for free. Called Time Warner they came out dropped the cable and installed a temp ground line. She called AT&T and was told it was $110 for the first hour and $25 for every 15mins after that...... and the guy had to wait on site charging us while the work is being done! We're talking about 8 hours work and he has to wait. Well looks like I will do the work and we will drop AT&T home line. We have 4 cells on AT&T and I have been wanting to drop them due to coverage issues so now AT&T will loose 1 home phone and 4 cells! What a rip off! I can't wait to tell them how their customer service has cost them.
 
You should have xplained to them thatt he other option was to leave the trees there, and let them instead come out to repair the line at 3am when a tree took it out.

Why do you think the others do it free? They don't want anybody to be f-ing with the lines or letting things grow around it - which is exactly what AT&T is encouraging you to do....
 
Cut the line and have them come out and repair it! seriously they can't charge you for it. The tree limb fell and took it out. Thats all you have to say. If you need someone to help with this PM me I will be glad to help with the CS issue. These CS reps piss me off.
 
dont call them, drop the tree....you may still end up paying but at east you wont pay to wait while the tress are cut....
 
They charge a good bit more for an "emergency" call even if it's not an emergency. I dropped a pine on a phone line with a dozer and it costs out the ass!
 
Yeah I called at&t looking for a better phone rate since my monthly bill is $105 a month, and other companies are charging around 60 bucks for the same features. Well after going around and around with "Tina" or whatever her name was i finally got my monthly bill knocked down to 65 dollars a month. If I had better cellphone coverage at my house I would get rid of them all together.
 
its a phone line.... take it down yourself.
 
If you can wait till it is real windy and have your tree guy on standby and winch the dam tree across the line and claim it was a act of nature! cut the other trees quick as soon as the repair truck shows.
