Right now this is a fishing expedition. We have several panes of thermal windows which have hazed inside between the glass panels. The company that made them is located in Atlanta, north side off 285 according to my contact. The company will replace the glass, but does not deliver in NC, and will not ship via Fedex, UPS, etc. due to the fact the glass never makes it to its destination on one piece. I am wondering if anyone from the forum travels that way frequently and would be willing to pick them up for me. I will gladly pay a reasonable price to have this done. Any takers? Thanx!

Something doesn't make sense.
How did the panes get to you the first time? I find it hard to believe a company only delivers in the same geographical market they are produced in. It sounds to me like they're giving you an excuse for them not to pay shipping on a warranty they are already losing money on.

"Will not deliver to NC" probably means "Unless you want to pay for crating and freight".
It's bullshit though, because these companies ship replacement glazing all the time for shipping/site damaged units at time of original order.

I wanted to replace 2 aluminum windows with a different shape/size in a good quality fiberglass for our remodel, and was getting $900 freight charges for a pair of 48" long rectangular windows. I think they must figure freight based on a full sized trailer with nothing but your product in it.

Also, is there anything special about the glazing spec that a local glazier can't just make/buy an IGU of the same glass brand/model spec?

A little more detail..... The windows were installed in 2006 by a contractor (no longer in the area). The windows were purchased from Bi-State Building Products in Harrisburg NC. They no longer handle those windows. The warranty on the windows is 25 years. The truth is I just don't get along well with overcrowded Interstates and big cities too well anymore. When I have to go to Charlotte one of my sons usually drive me. Now ya know the rest of the story! :)

I don't know, but that may be well worth looking into. Appreciate the tip!

That info might be on the window invoice or quotes if you were the original purchaser. It should have a spacer thickness, color, glass spec (Cardinal or whatever brand model and coating), muntin style, those sort of things.

That is simply not true.

We get shipments of glass via UPS all the time.

The Glass Shop (Lexington)

Alamance Glass (Burlington)

Piedmont Glass (Danville, VA)

Carolina Classic Window & Glass (Greensboro)

These are 4 glass houses I deal with regularly. They are all great places that deal with custom glass, installs and repairs. They are all great folks and can help you out.

how big is the glass?
And can you get them to meet on Sat or Sun?
I may be right through there this weekend if all goes well.

Appreciate the offer, but I am not even close to getting them. I just contacted the company yesterday. Right now I am just weighing my options.

I gotta go down there sometime to pick up my grandpas truck. It's at my aunts house. Doesn't run been sitting over a year etc... maybe getting your glass will motivate me to get the truck.

Thank you! I still have to take the pics and round up all the info the glass people want. Right now I am in the middle of a remodeling project. If you haven't picked up your truck by the time I get all this done I may very well take you up on the offer. Again, thank you!
