i have recently got a set of 33 inch wild spirit radial rvts, it is an mt. these tires seem heavy and it takes alot to push them on the highway at any speed over 60.i have an xj with stock gears, (3.55). before these i ran 32 inch bfg ats. i am lookin at trading them out for 33 inch bfg ats. my question is that will i have the same problem with 33 inch bfg ats as the rvts? is it just that the tire is really heavy and agressive or does it have more to do with the size? if it is the size then i would rather just get some new 32s but if it is because of the weight i would rather have a 33 for apperance and ground clearance any advice would be great.

no but you can tell a pretty big difference just rollin them around. so your saying for streetabily the 32 is deffinatly the way to go? i just dont feel like that inch should make that big of a deal. i think it comes out to a difference of like 20 some rotations per mile

running same tire pressure? The inch changes over all finale drive ratio, and at the same time the width difference causes more resistance too.

I looked up the specs on the bfg tire, there is a 6 lb difference between a 32-11.5-15 and a 33-12.50-15. You can get the weight back by using a 33-10-50-15. You'd still get the height, but it's not as wide.

Also it appears the 33 RVT is 1 lb lighter than the same size bfg AT

What tire pressure are you running?????

I think the biggest difference is that of steel wheels vs alloy wheels. I know a stock 15x7 feels like it weighs a :poop:-ton more than a slightly larger alloy wheel. if you want, try swapping wheels and see how much difference it is. or if you dont like your alloy wheels look at my for sale link in my sig. ;)

i meant psi. sorry. and the wheels make a big difference? if so then i still want to go back to ats because of the buzz. if i put 33 bfg ats on the alloys do you think it will be as bad as the mts on the steelies? i want to be able to go down the highway at like 70 and still be getting decent gas mileage? anyone out there with an xj on 33s with stock (3.55)gears that could give some input?

just found this and figured i'd input... i believe my brother ran 36's on his XJ with stock gears at one point and if he wanted 65-70 he drove it. Screw gas mileage though:driver:

don't forget that if you go from stock-> 33" - 36" you may not be getting as bad as you think if your speedometer hasn't been calibrated.. $.02
